The art is boring get a apiece with some color and get that ..... clock off the wall no one needs to be reminded of the time while having a nice dinner .What is that rug made of it looks like plastic and no only that but how woill the chairs be able to move in and out without lifting the rug.. Maybe put the rug in the LR under a coffee table but no here.I like the map art but it needs to be lowered I often hang art a bit lower than usual in a DR since it is viewed while seated .

The room is approximately 9 feet by 9.5 feet.

9 feet from the wall to the back door and 9.5 from the window to the opening where the kitchen

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I have this piece but haven't brought it up yet as it is quite large and I wanted to try some other things instead. The artwork below is 51" x 41", so it would only possibly work on the left wall in the photos, which is 61" long.

Its 2 1/8" deep and I worried with this one that it would stick out too much off the wall as it's a walk way there to the powder room!

The rug is leather/cowhide with metallic paint on the spots where they drop acid, it's a common style of cowhide. It looks better in real life than the photos definitely, but I might skip a rug altogether in this room. I will probably try it and see how it looks, and I will post photos if I do.

The art work is quite boring, haha. I was trying to keep it very neutral and light, but not boring!!

I have to confess if i were doing a cowhide rug I would probably put this on the wall, and not just because it is Valentines Day

I've added the curtains now, but I think the tree has to go. I might have a lower plant in can put there. Haven't touched the wall art yet! (Or that broken piece on the window it's about -20 Celsius currently!!)

@User I don't think those colorful pieces will suit the space! The rest of the house is quite neutral and light. The living room is just around the corner and has light seafoam throw pillows and greenery but no other colors. I have another post about that one

I like your pictures....white on white, I think. How about a different frame for each? Maybe gold or silver or white or wait for your rug and take a color from that. The dark frames seems too stark for the delicate art work.

@erinsean sadly, the frames are not changeable (the metal is bent and nailed into the frames on the back), though they are paintable...hmmm! I liked them because they match the table top.

I am going to put the rug down shortly and see how it looks!

I ended up taking the tree out for now as it is too big for that corner

@erinsean the rug I put down is neutral gray with silver cowhide! 😂 it's been folded for awhile so the creases bad right now but they can be ironed or steamed out!

You mentioned the frames are paintable...I know they match your table you said, but I still think a lighter color would make them stand out, Silver or gold...yum!

The curtains are really skimpy. Two more panels so there are more folds would look better. Something like the William Morris print that is mostly neutral but with a touch of color would make the room sparkle more than some generic neutral "art" that pretty much just blends into the wall.
