A wall art layout to balance my dining room wall...?

This is my dining room wall. The curio cabinet is pushed off to the right because of my thermostat. It cannot sit in front of it and we cannot move it without a huge hassle and a lot of money (I already looked into that option). I'm looking for suggestions for wall art layouts that might help it look more balanced...? Thanks!

without seeing the rest of the room, I'd get a thermostat that can be controlled by your phone (assuming having furniture in front of it wont' affect it working properly) OR put the cabinet kitty corner or somewhere else in the room?

Good suggestions. It cannot go anywhere else, nor does it fit kitty-cornered. I am reluctant to cover the thermostat, it would leave the cabinet precariously far away from the wall, not to mention that it is heavy, old and delicate to move should the need arise to access the thermostat.

take down these small pics and then use painters tape to mark out the larger sizes I'd prob go w/more rectangle, and something in this size range. (i can't turn it like Celery does!) similar dining rooms to give you ideas of what sizes to hang if you want two, make them like this

@Patricia Colwell I have this piece but haven't brought it up yet as it is quite large and I wanted to try some other things instead. The artwork below is 51" x 41", so it would only possibly work on the left wall in the photos, which is 61" long. Its 2 1/8" deep and I worried with this one that it would stick out too much off the wall as it's a walk way there to the powder room! The rug is leather/cowhide with metallic paint on the spots where they drop acid, it's a common style of cowhide. It looks better in real life than the photos definitely, but I might skip a rug altogether in this room. I will probably try it and see how it looks, and I will post photos if I do. The art work is quite boring, haha. I was trying to keep it very neutral and light, but not boring!!

It is a wallpaper, but the website isn't active anymore. Hmm - I like the small prints a lot too. The spacing is great & their leaf images play nicely with the leafy wreath effect in the script art on left & the tree. And, having only one script art instead of two makes the arrangement less busy for the eyes wanting to read the scripts instead of looking at the nice arrangement as a whole. Sounds like I’ve made my decision that I like your last arrangement the best! So as you & I both know - that’s the beauty of the velcro hangers - we can change our minds & not have walls looking like dart boards!

I don’t see anything working to balance the curio out. I would suggest rehoming it to another space.

I agree with Jack but if it has to be there .... I think I'd put it crooked kitty corner before trying to put stuff up against it making it seem even more squashed in the corner. How many inches is the adjacent wall short?

Can't you just pull it out from the wall an inch or so and center it in front of the thermostat? The air will still get to the thermostat to let it function. Try it and see if it affects the function. Mine is behind a large armoire that's out from the wall enough that I can slide my hand back there to adjust it and it works fine.

Jamming the cabinet into the corner really looks terrible. Typically the wire for the thermostat can be moved. Center the cabinet on the wall and hang a framed canvas above the cabinet.

I am with you about putting something in front of the thermostat. ,I think I would leave it where you have it and find a long narrow piece of art to put on the wall and something equally beautiful for the top of your cabinet. Do you have a wooden chair that could go on the wall with a picture over it? That would work also.

Whats the story on the OP's name "HU-#####". I've noticed a lot of "HU-###" being used these days. How and why are these names getting used?

enduring, when someone signs up for a houzz account, they have to choose a user name that shows in their posts (can be the same or different name that they use to sign up). If they don't choose one, houzz automatically assigns one of the HU ### to them and it's what appears in their posts. Most people signing on are not hanging around long enough to figure out the fine details of using their accounts, so they just keep the ###'s then they disappear ;-) HU= houzz user

Thanks Olychick. I wondered if the H stood for Houzz, but couldn't figure out the "U", lol. I have seen a lot of these users lately.
