Dining Room Update - Chandy size and wall art
Comments (60)I agree with your husband: trust your instincts. Sure, you'll have a couple of missteps, but that's to be expected as none of us are static and many of us upgrade as budget permits -- just part of the process of learning about yourself. Fill your home with what you love, however slowly as you need to create your haven, not ours. That being said, your perfect daylight greige is likely affected by the lightbulbs. Try Reveal and add a dimmer if you don't already have one. Lots of candles as everyone looks fab by candlelight and your DR will be wonderful. Next paint job on your agenda in another room, if you want to save a bit of money, try Pittsburgh Paint Manor Hall. Nearly half the price of Aura, and I like the hand ever so much better. I've used Aura for years since it first came out, but I really like Manor Hall better. As far as your chandie/mirror dilemma, I'd opt for round on one and rectangular on the other. Since you already have the mirror and are open to leafing or painting it, then an easy out is a round chandie. Have you looked at any of the antique crystal chandies on Ebay and considered adding a drum shade? But if you truly think you'll love the rectangular chandelier, I've seen some nice ones of Ebay as well as the selection on Overstock. Finally, rather than wed yourself to a color concept for the back of the cabinets, would you consider paper, fabric or even painted panels that you can change when you want? You can easily find just the right striking print or color rather than struggle with paint. Many of us have bought enough samples to paint a house so that's not a route I'd advise. I'm a fan of practical displays until you have the budget to devote to passion collections so add whatever sparkly crystal stemware and candlesticks and any silver pieces you have to the cabinets for the interim. Comments (9)As you probably know, art is very personal. Tastes are as varied as the people who enjoy it. The best advice I can give is to browse local art galleries and student art shows for something that really moves you. In my area coffee shops show art by local artists, so that could be an option, too. Heck, I've even found some interesting pieces at garage sales. I also make my own when inspiration strikes me. I hope you take your time in making your decision. I have a spot in my dining room that has been begging for something special for years. I'd rather it be bare than settle for something that doesn't make me swoon every time I see it!...See Moreneed paint color in small dining room w/little light, chandelier, art?
Comments (4)Can you post some pics of the areas around this space? I like chandeliers that light the table and in LED 4000k so any colors you choose for walls etc stay true . As for art I would never choose art for a client so not here either find a pices you love IMO quite large . I need to know thew size of the room but usually IMO a buffet is a nice addition much more so that the county style corner piece with very formal chairs you have. I love drapes in DRs and a soft plae blue faux silk would be awesome with walls thesame color as the drapes to make the space feel larger....See More"Proper" placement of framed art in Dining Room
Comments (14)IMO it does not go on that wall unless you are planning on removing that trim which BTW is too tall for that space and proportion with the door if the trim was like a chair rail then that wall would work. As it is no way so maybe just some nice wall sconces or a very wide low piece of art.much more horizontal...See MoreSheila Kelly
