April Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (45)I probably won't be able to do anything more tonight to finish out my month as my two oldest grandchildren are spending the night tomorrow night....their parents are walking with my other daughter-in-law's March of Dimes team (Raina's Wings) early Saturday morning. I need to get some things straightened up around here for their visit. UPDATE #3 1. One birthday block (Finished and sent out) 2. One (maybe two) paper pieced lotto block (Finished one and have pieces cut for second one) 3. Take individual photos of the birthday blocks I received and continue working on my Bobbin Babes notebook. When finished, I will have one page dedicated to each member with photos of what I received from them, what I sent them, and a photo of all the blocks they received (Worked a little on my pages, but this isn't a huge priority and it will take the rest of the year to accomplish the entire project.) 4. Hound the Bobbin Babes who have already had birthdays and haven't posted photos of all their blocks yet! (I hounded them last month with very little results, I might wait another month to hound again!) 5. Wash the rest of my fabric stash (Washed a bunch, but not all, washed a bunch more...still have some to do, but getting there!) 6. Possibly do a birthday block for June (Finished!) 7. Possibly make a couple of blocks for a quilt I want to start (Cut out several pieces for this quilt and finished six blocks) Salijo...See MoreAugust, 2013 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (33)Donna I machine sewed the quilt blocks and then my husband framed them with frames we bought from Hobby Lobby at $10 a piece. The ladies the fabric came from did not quilt, but they did sew clothing and that's where the fabric for the blocks came from except for the tan/white floral neutral that I used from my stash. The older fabrics that belonged to my friend's grandma and great-grandma will be donated as I do not use old, old fabric in my quilts as I feel that would shorten the life of the quilt using 40 to 60 year old fabrics. Some of the fabric used in the framed quilt blocks developed holes in them during the handwash cycle in the washing machine, so the fabric is very, very old and delicate, and I did not feel it would be wise to use it in a quilt as I like my quilts to get a lot of utilitarian use. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreOctober Quilting/Applique/Sewing Goals
Comments (22)Donna, Thanks for posting your celtic project. It looks tedious, but I've wanted to try it. Think I'll put it on my Wallhanging Challenge list. When I get to it, I'll probably be picking your brain for any tips. Great job on the sweater and getting the BD blocks together. Definitely an excellent month for you! Linda, You've been busy, too! Machine quilting takes a lot of time, but you're fortunate to have a frame and know how to use it! Good job! I completed a few more things on my list but got a call from my SIL. She and a friend were cleaning out the sewing supplies of what a family had left of a neighbor who had passed away. Not much cotton, but there were 3 big cheater quilts and 2 GFG quilts that just need to be trimmed up. She wasn't a quilter, so there wasn't a lot of that, but nevertheless, the back of the van got filled, so now I have to go through it to see what I'm going to keep of it. There probably won't be any sewing today. Sharon...See MoreDecember, 2013 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (19)Sharon I feel bad for your husband breaking a knee cap, that just sounds awefully painful. You are probably right Sharon, once I get a lot of granny square blocks made I'll probably be repurposing them for something else, we'll see - hoping to make more blocks in 2014. I plan to just make a bunch and box them up and then when I get time to actually layout the top down the road then will put them up on my temporary design wall which I can't leave out all the time, because it hangs over the cabinets in the laundry room that we use every day. I have fabric cut for 2 more pincushions and have 1 of them half way sewn. S-I-L said she would try to make me 5 embroidery labels for my pincushion project this weekend. I'm gonna' be cutting it close getting both of them done, 'cause every time I sit at my desk to work on them I find myself back on the computer. Thankfully I have all of my Christmas shopping done. Bev I would love to see a pick of your falling charms quilt once you get it finished. Donna your hand bells playing sounds like fun. Hope everyone enjoys their holidays. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreBev
