Well, I got 1 out of my three goals done for last month....
Should I join in again this month?

1. Finish 2009 birthday blocks.
2. Finish Calendar wall hanging.
3. Start a quilting project - purses are taking all my time!!!

What happened to September?!?

OK, here's the October plan....

1. Finish 2009 birthday blocks. Just one left!
2. Border for the next Round Robin quilt (Vicky's).
3. Get busy on the Laurel Burch panel Christmas wall hanging. Five 5" blocks to do, then sashing, then a combination of hand and machine quilting. I have the perfect green/red striped bias cut binding all ready to go and found the sashing fabric at the quilt show so I'm set! (all I need to do is start...)
4. I would like to do the lotto blocks this month - love the leaf pattern - but not sure I'll get to it.
5. Lap quilt for an elder friend back home in North Dakota.
6. Three to five oversized blocks to go in the Next Door Neighbor quilt. I think 3 in the quilt and 2 more for big bed pillows.

Vicky, Of course you should join! What a silly question!! And keep track of how many purses you make this month. That should go on your list....not that it's a goal, but it's a sewing project.

Kate, I feel the same way....where did Sept go? I know one place it went was me being on the computer too much, so that's going to be one of my aims this month...staying off the computer so much! might help my eyes, too.

As of now, my goals are:

1-finish design of applique blocks and put the puzzle together.

2-get out those UFOs and do the FMQ

3-finish up Xmas table runner and perhaps more for gifts.

4-work on SBS blocks, starting at the retreat and more later at home. Fifty down and 90 to go. Ugh! Why did I get myself into this?

Because I'm battling vertigo right now, my goal is just get my sewing room put together after our recent move. I'm not quite up to sewing just yet, but hopefully I'll be able to get back to the machines soon. When I can, I have a quilt basted and ready for quilting, plus some Christmas gifts to get started.

October goals:
- finish lap quilt for Lindsay "Tossed Nine Patch"
- start quilting Megan's Scappy Squares quilt
- continue hand applique flower quilt (this is a long range plan quilt)
- piece 2-3 more block for my sampler quilt.
- start a Christmas wall hanging. Haven't picked out the pattern yet.
Too many projects? maybe.Looking forward to completing the lapquilt.

Those are all pretty ambitious goals. I have begun trimming my goals down to what I can realistically finish. LOLOL.

In this order:

1) A crib quilt for my newest grandson who is due in February. I have the quilt top nearly finished. I'm getting it done as early as possible, so I won't be caught in a bind with it being a UFO when I need to give it.

2) Get my paper piecing blocks done for Woodenzoo's lotto, and my October block done for my monthly lotto. Also know I tend to put things off until they're due and then fret on them. So nice to get it out of the way first.

3) Get my Eye of God quilt sandwiched and quilted. It's one of my early efforts and shows it. But, it'll make a fine utility quilt So I don't need to get fancy with it. It'll prolly just be knotted.

4) Get my DD's quilt on the frame and ready for a winter project to hand quilt. Alternative plan, to find a long-arm quilter to just finish it off and get it to her. I bought bamboo batting ( a splurge for me), and would really love to try it hand quilting, as I hear it's easily worked and a pleasure.

And I have my one and only lotto block win still tacked to the design wall. It was a small number of blocks, so even for a twin size, need to make more blocks and want to do a Carpenter's star for the center. But, I'd like to get that done.

After all these are done, then I can start a new quilt top, and I need to really get serious about not making any new tops until the last ones are finished.

My goals for October are to:
1. Hand stitch binding on baby quilt.
2. Finish the Fun and Done quilt that I started at a workshop.
3. Make BOM from LQS.
4. Machine quilt tops that are ready and waiting.

I don't know how many of these goals will be met. Oct. is a very busy month for me. I am co-chair of the cooking committee at our church this month. We serve a noon meal to the Rotary Club every Tuesday.
The weekend of the 17th, all the kids are coming home for the entire weekend. It will be very nice to have them here.

My week-end of sewing has been shot down! Somehow, and i don't know how it happened, DD has me sewing 8 WOF X 40 FEET of poly China silk for DGD's band to make a flag 40 feet X 30 feet.....or close to it. I put 2 panels together last night. You should have seen it....draped over the couch in front of me and mountained up to the front door. Gonna have to have some pics taken when they all get put together.

Now that I am back sewing/quilting, I hope to get more projects finished. I took a vacation--visited lots of quilt shops and bought some fabrics---and it seems like it did the trick. Since I got back, I've finished quilting that HUGE top that I had been looking at for months ( a few days ago, I posted a pic of it under the title 'Autumn Delight').Before the month ends I hope to do the following:

1. Make and decorate some Christmas stockings and applique them onto a quilt--that quilt is one I did years ago for my son and each year I do a small stocking for each of the babies born during the year (his cousins and cousins once-removed) and sew it on.

2. Quilt 4 blocks of a wall-hanging---MAYBE get the binding finished.

3. Sandwich and quilt another D9P top----MAYBE get the binding done.

Home again, home again, Jiggity Jig! I'm so happy to be sleeping in my own bed tonight! I took 14 block kits with me to Camp-Woe-B-Gone (quilting retreat in a hotel room) and only did 5! The set up wasn't acceptable to be able to whip through them like I could at home and, besides, I started reading Death Dance by Linda Fairstein....have a difficult time putting it down.

5 Hat blocks done, 6 BOM blocks cut out, 2 Stars Across America, 1 Chocolate Star cut out. and 6 doll quilt tops are done.

Tomorrow I have to measure what's left of the flag fabric and piece it to hopefully get the size they need for the eyes.

I'm rolling right along as planned.

1. Have puzzle applique quilt together and border going on as soon as I dye some better color green fabric than first try.

2. Finished ten more SBS blocks. Have sixty now.

3. Working on wallhanging for our seasonal challenge.

4. Still not doing my FMQ but am waiting for "the mood" to strike. As weather turns foul, I'll need more to do indoors and that should kick me in the backside.

5. I cleaned up my sewing area and lubed the FW and have more space to work now. I feel so efficient.

I'm sure not short of fabric or projects.

Linda! 60 SunBonnet Sue blocks?????? Good grief! What are you doing? Putting them on the wall?

Sorry, not that SBS. Mine are Sylvia's Bridal Sampler blocks, most paper pieced, 6" sampler blocks, each a different pattern. Some are very frustrating. I'm starting to think about not making all 140, maybe just a wallhanging? Hmmm.

I'll go back to the wallhanging today and put the Y seams aside for now.

Well, I got some things accomplished:
1. 2006 BD block quilt - done - ready to be donated at next Monday's guild meeting

2. Amish BOM - it's on the frame...hoping to get it done before Nov. 5/6 church bazaar!

3. 2007 BD blocks - still in the closet!

4. Celtic applique - only the center is done, no immediate plans to do the border. I don't like the project much, so it is officially on the "back burner"

5. Niece's sweater for Christmas - DONE!

Donna, Thanks for posting your celtic project. It looks tedious, but I've wanted to try it. Think I'll put it on my Wallhanging Challenge list. When I get to it, I'll probably be picking your brain for any tips. Great job on the sweater and getting the BD blocks together. Definitely an excellent month for you!

Linda, You've been busy, too! Machine quilting takes a lot of time, but you're fortunate to have a frame and know how to use it! Good job!

I completed a few more things on my list but got a call from my SIL. She and a friend were cleaning out the sewing supplies of what a family had left of a neighbor who had passed away. Not much cotton, but there were 3 big cheater quilts and 2 GFG quilts that just need to be trimmed up. She wasn't a quilter, so there wasn't a lot of that, but nevertheless, the back of the van got filled, so now I have to go through it to see what I'm going to keep of it. There probably won't be any sewing today.
