October 2014 Quilting/Sewing goals
Comments (35)Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. If nothing else, I've learned that death is a part of life and those left behind to grieve find that life goes on. For me, I think it's difficult for the process to begin until the service and that won't be until Nov 1. Quilting seems to have gone on the back burner, but I'm trying. The quilts I want to get backed are with the backing fabric so maybe I can get the sandwiching started tomorrow. I need to vacuum, too. In the meantime, I'm wondering what I'll put on the list for next month. :-) SharonG/FL...See MoreMay 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (9)Theresa, I'm really sorry you're having health issues. Hopefully, this month will be better for you and you can enjoy your winnings. Donna, I used to find it difficult to find a plain skirt at a decent price so usually ended up making my own. They're pretty easy and you can make them to fit! Lois, What are you using for the Mountain Majesties? I can't imagine you really have some scraps. lol Ok, folks, the neutal checkerboard is sewn together. My youngest will be 50 this year and since I make the girls big quilts for their 50th, she saw it and wants it for her guestroom at the cabin. I have to make it BIGGER! QUEEN SIZE! What I have now is 6 rows down and 9 rows across. I had planned on amping up the width with borders, but now I'll have to make more 9-patches. I figure at least 10 rows down and maybe 3 or 4 more across??? Does that sound right? That would make it 60" wide and about 78" long plus borders? If she uses a skirt on the bed, how big does it need to be?...See MoreJuly, 2015 Quilting/Sewing goals
Comments (15)My July goals are to quilt and bind the restored View from the Cabin quilt that I gave to my neighbor several years ago. Her dog ate several huge holes in it; she "unquilted" the whole quilt; I repaired the top as best I could (being unable to find more matching fabric); and it's now glue basted and ready to re-quilt. I hope to finish my nephew's Winter Windows quilt top and get it off to the longarmer. I'm working on a Summer in the Park quilt with a jelly roll of marbled batiks that I got in a scrap bag and a piece of WOW that my friend gave me. I also have to go through a 12" high stack of patterns and magazines that this same friend gave me. Most of the patterns are for appliqués, which I don't often do, but the magazines have some interesting patterns in them. I'd also like to quilt the two lotto winnings quilt tops that I have pieced and get them into the "Done" pile....See MoreAugust, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (9)I actually do have some goals this month. I usually don't work with goals. I plan to have several projects to take with me to retreat, so I want to get them cut and packaged. I also have a few tops that need to be quilted, so I am going to work on getting them completed so that I can take them to retreat for show and tell. I am making string blocks out of a gazillion strings that I have. I will make ever how many quilts I can out of them when I get them complete. Hopefully this month I will get quite a few of them complete. Sewing the tops together might be something I do at retreat. Jackie...See Moremsmeow
