Comments (28)Great on completing a UFO, Beverly. Done is a good thing. I have the last 2 borders to put on the GI Mystery Quilt and then it will probably be put away for awhile.....I'm pretty much tired of looking at it, but wanted to at least get the top completed. I also am working on an I Spy (of sorts) for Mackenzie. I don't want to turn up the thermostat but might have to. Sitting covered up with a quilt all day is eating into the sewing time. A cyber buddy from DH's forum stopped by yesterday. He was in shorts and I was in sweat pants and sweat shirt. He's from Oregon, so this was nice weather to him. At least there's no snow and it isn't like it's freezing......until tomorrow night. :-) If any of our members have a 'snow day' hope you can stay inside at the sewing machine and enjoy it. Comments (7)I've been working a little on my paper-pieced birds of paradise wall hanging. My language gets so "colorful" when I PP with all the strange angles and shapes that this project has. I swear that I rip one seam for every two I sew. As my husband says when he hits a bad golf shot - your choice of words is so limited at a time like this. As much as I don't miss the Minnesota winter, I really miss my Minnesota sewing room. Here on Maui, I have to get everything out and then put everything away every time I sew. I know some of you have to do that all the time, but I don't think I would ever get a project finished if I had to. If I only have an hour to sew and I have to spend 10 minutes on either end to set up and take down, I always find something else to do - like read. Therefore, I'm getting a lot of reading done but not as much quilting as I'd like. Oh, well, we'll be home in three weeks and then I'll be complaining about the weather. LOL...See MoreApril 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (21)My goal this month is to finish "big red" and get it off to the LAQ. It's raining today, so I'm going to try to get it done. Then I have to put sashing and borders on a first anniversary quilt for my friend and her wife. They have been a devoted couple for 25 years and were finally able to marry last year. Their wedding color was purple, so this quilt has Hawaiian floral patterned 10"x10" squares with purple sashing and a beautiful purple batik backing. Oh, and the April lotto block. All that, along with spring yard and boat work, should keep me busy in the time remaining in April....See MoreMay 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (9)Theresa, I'm really sorry you're having health issues. Hopefully, this month will be better for you and you can enjoy your winnings. Donna, I used to find it difficult to find a plain skirt at a decent price so usually ended up making my own. They're pretty easy and you can make them to fit! Lois, What are you using for the Mountain Majesties? I can't imagine you really have some scraps. lol Ok, folks, the neutal checkerboard is sewn together. My youngest will be 50 this year and since I make the girls big quilts for their 50th, she saw it and wants it for her guestroom at the cabin. I have to make it BIGGER! QUEEN SIZE! What I have now is 6 rows down and 9 rows across. I had planned on amping up the width with borders, but now I'll have to make more 9-patches. I figure at least 10 rows down and maybe 3 or 4 more across??? Does that sound right? That would make it 60" wide and about 78" long plus borders? If she uses a skirt on the bed, how big does it need to be?...See Morejackier123
