January, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (28)Great on completing a UFO, Beverly. Done is a good thing. I have the last 2 borders to put on the GI Mystery Quilt and then it will probably be put away for awhile.....I'm pretty much tired of looking at it, but wanted to at least get the top completed. I also am working on an I Spy (of sorts) for Mackenzie. I don't want to turn up the thermostat but might have to. Sitting covered up with a quilt all day is eating into the sewing time. A cyber buddy from DH's forum stopped by yesterday. He was in shorts and I was in sweat pants and sweat shirt. He's from Oregon, so this was nice weather to him. At least there's no snow and it isn't like it's freezing......until tomorrow night. :-) If any of our members have a 'snow day' hope you can stay inside at the sewing machine and enjoy it. Comments (9)Theresa, I'm really sorry you're having health issues. Hopefully, this month will be better for you and you can enjoy your winnings. Donna, I used to find it difficult to find a plain skirt at a decent price so usually ended up making my own. They're pretty easy and you can make them to fit! Lois, What are you using for the Mountain Majesties? I can't imagine you really have some scraps. lol Ok, folks, the neutal checkerboard is sewn together. My youngest will be 50 this year and since I make the girls big quilts for their 50th, she saw it and wants it for her guestroom at the cabin. I have to make it BIGGER! QUEEN SIZE! What I have now is 6 rows down and 9 rows across. I had planned on amping up the width with borders, but now I'll have to make more 9-patches. I figure at least 10 rows down and maybe 3 or 4 more across??? Does that sound right? That would make it 60" wide and about 78" long plus borders? If she uses a skirt on the bed, how big does it need to be?...See MoreSeptember, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (12)Beth, So far, I don't see anything 'wonky' about this. I don't think I've ever seen Prairie Points that weren't used at the edges of a quilt, so this sounds interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing this completed. FWIW, I used seersucker as a backing on my now 26 year old DGS's baby quilt. It was washed almost weekly for the first 6-8 years with no problems, and used sporadically after that. A few years ago, my DD told me that as a teenager and when he still lived at home, he would get it out when he didn't feel well and wrap up in it. Yes, he does have a larger quilt, but this is the one that comforts him the most. Anyway, that seersucker fabric stayed the course. lol...See MoreNovember, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (14)OK, this is a test to see if I'm in again. I finally looked to see if I can post without all the added stuff (social media links, etc.) which I don't do and will not do. I've been reading all the posts since the change and have kept up with everyone. I've made several quilts since I last posted, some good ones, some not so good. I had to beg hubby to make me a quilt display ladder because I was running out of places to store them. It really turned out awesome. I want him to make me another one. I also broke away for a couple of weeks to do something else, I'd done so much quilting I was at the point where I couldn't find anything I wanted to work on. So I dragged out my rug hooking stuff and worked on that for awhile. But I'm back. Went to a quilt show in Crystal River recently, it was pretty good. A lot of applique and embellishment using beads, buttons, etc. which I don't do a lot of but it was worth the drive....See Moremsmeow
