I have a friend's UFO I need to quilt and get back to her, and I'll finish one UFO. Other than that my priority is going to be cleaning and sorting the sewing room. We have some bike rides coming up that will use some of my time.

Finish and mail all my blocks through July before leaving for the month of May. I won't be doing any sewing while traveling - but may manage to sneak into a few quilt shops along the way. Also going to visit with beth7happy and see all of her many quilting/gardening projects that she's busy juggling. By the time I return home - I'll be itching to get back to sewing.

I don't know what's wrong with me. When I have time to sew I just don't feel like it. So I guess my goal for April will be to sew something.

I am on a scrap busting mission right now. I am determined to best the multiplying ability of my scraps. I have sewn on string blocks for a week and my string containers keep multiplying more strings! So, I changed tactics...I am teaching my cousin how to piece and quilt, so I have her making string blocks right now...problem is, the huge bag of strings that I gave her have multiplied too! I say all this in jest, as I love working with scraps, so it is ok if they multiply. I also love it when my friends give me scraps. I have used many this week from past retreats and the memories just keep coming in as I sew with them. Its fun to pull out scrap and remember where it came from or what quilt that I used it in. So I guess my April goal is to just keep on making scrap quilts and enjoy what I am doing.

My April goal is too make the Island Sunrise quilt by Judy Niemeyer. DD and I went to the first class on Tuesday. We have homework to do before the second class on April 14. PP is not one of my favorite quilting techniques but maybe it will grow on me by the time I get this quilt finished.
This was Jen's first quilt class and she loved it. It was my first class since we moved to Columbus and I enjoyed it too. She was so happy when she got home that her DH told her to take more classes! Sounds good to me! lol

Linda, I'm really intrigued by Judy N's quilts, but the patterns are very expensive! I think my guild has a teacher coming later this year to teach a Judy N class. Maybe I'll be able to take it.

Jackie, What kind of blocks are you making? I want to use some more scraps but I'm tired of squares. I have 1 1/2, 2 and 2 1/2 inch strips and some that haven't been trimmed yet. I need ideas....... Of course, I also need to be sandwiching and quilting! sigh......

First goal for April is to get my sewing stuff organized. I kind of dumped everything before we left in December and now I can't figure out where everything is! I want to get at least 2 quilt tops sandwiched and quilted for charity. The scraps do seem to be multiplying, also! Gotta get onto something with them, too.

Thanks Jackie, I was just looking through Bonnie's free patterns. I don't have any of her books.....they're a bit pricey for me. I'm going to look for a Wild Child picture. :-) Awww, you could at least give your cousin a hint. lol

I have one quilt sandwiched! Woot! Woot! A 20 block tilted 9-Patch needs the horizontal rows sewed and it will be ready for the borders, I've made 5 strip blocks (trying to keep a light/white in the center) similar to Jackie's and all the little squares is ready for The Key in Linda's Zelda Quilt-Along. Wow, I've gotten more done than I thought I had. :-)

My goal this month is to finish "big red" and get it off to the LAQ. It's raining today, so I'm going to try to get it done. Then I have to put sashing and borders on a first anniversary quilt for my friend and her wife. They have been a devoted couple for 25 years and were finally able to marry last year. Their wedding color was purple, so this quilt has Hawaiian floral patterned 10"x10" squares with purple sashing and a beautiful purple batik backing. Oh, and the April lotto block. All that, along with spring yard and boat work, should keep me busy in the time remaining in April.

How did you do today, Lois? Did you get Big Red done?

I've been able to finish DH's flag quilt...it's awaiting a label which requires DH's help, so it waits until he's ready to help. There isn't a deadline now since the friends that are retiring/relocating are getting a new assignment and will probably be staying here for the next few years instead of GA.

Not sure what the next project will be. I have an almost 4yo who wants her Scooby Doo quilt, and then I have a red/white snowman quilt in the works. hmmm, so many projects, so little time.

Just checking in........The Key needs a couple more rows sewn together, have started putting the borders on the Tilted 9-Patch and I'm making 42 string blocks at 8 1/2" with 13 more to go....no Wild Child here. Yippee..... I can see the bottom of the containers that had 1 1/2" and 2" strips in them. It's actually kind of scary. :-)

I'm using scraps along with a focus fabric for a baby quilt, and I still have mountains of scraps! :) The baby quilt is coming out so cute. I hope to finish the top this month.

I've been reading Bonnie Hunter's blog again, and it's got me itching to start another scrap quilt. Maybe that will be my May goal. :)

I'm so excited. I not only finished "big red," I finished my birds of paradise wall hanging and the Hawaiian quilt top. I also sent off my April and May lotto blocks, and it's only the 16th. Yahoo!! Now to get going on the quilting of all the tops I have ready. Like Donna and Sharon, I'm itching to start a scrap quilt. I have to also visit Bonnie's site and find a pattern that appeals to me. Oh, the the gardens are cleaned up and the lawn is mostly raked (thanks in large part to my husband), and Uncle Sam's check is in the mail. This has been a very productive month.

Good job, girls!!! Doesn't it feel good? I've made a list of Bonnie's free patterns (and a few others I like) and am crossing them off as they get made. Think I've made 11 or 12.

Four more days and April, 2015 will be history. WOW!!!

Sadly the 3rd Zelda block is in the same state it was at the beginning of the month, so I need to get those last 2 rows sewn together this week and the black squares cut for The Bomb block.

The strippy strings are all sewn together and waiting with the Tilted 9-Patch and others to be sandwiched. I have one little heart block made and another cut and ready to be sewn together for the Littlest Warrior Project. Plus, a couple of quilts are sandwiched and ready to go.

I wonder what the month of May will bring.....hopefully, some flowers. :-)

I just finished the baby quilt top. Next weekend I'll piece the backing and get it loaded on the frame (unless I do it one evening this week).

I have managed to get my sewing room cleaned up and a little organized - YEAH!! I sandwiched FOUR charity quilts and have one half quilted (I am in the process of tearing out two sides of "quilting gone bad" on it). I did get three polar fleece charity quilts done and delivered, so this has actually been a productive month. It's raining so I am back to the tearing out and re-do this evening.
