Not sure about my color choice!
Comments (1)Pittsfield Buff, Monroe Bisque, Powell Buff. See thread linked below...those pics helped me, though we've only done one room so far. Good luck! Comments (4)Drywall is cheap and easy to patch. I'd just take a metal scraper and start prying that bugger off. If you can't figure out how to patch the drywall, surely one of your contractors can! It really is easy. And cheap. Especially since you will be tiling over most of it, so you don't need a perfect finish coat. (Getting a perfect finish coat is the trickiest aspect, IME.) I had a plastic thing like that as a backsplash behind by utility sink, but mine was screwed to the wall so it was easy to remove without harming the drywall, and I can't see any screw holes in yours, so it was probably glued on. Even so, it might pry off easily enough and then you can just patch the drywall a bit, prime it, and you're good to go. Worst case, you trash the drywall, and you'll just need to cut the drywall to nearby studs, slap up a patch piece, tape and mud a few coats, and it'd done. In my reno, my contractors have had to do that to good drywall at least a dozen times, and one competent guy can get it cut out, patched, taped and mudded to finish coat in just a few hours work....See MoreExterior paint-not sure I agree w/House Color Consultant?
Comments (16)I have paid lots of money over the years for professional advise ... sometimes I take and sometimes I don't. There isn't just one perfect color for your house/trim/door. If you hire 5 more color consultants I will bet that they all come up with different suggestions and I bet none will say that your house looks fine just as it is ... after all you paid them to come out and make suggestions! You seem to be stuck on what was said by the consultant, but obviously you didn't agree with her or you wouldn't be posting here! It really is ok if you do your own thing, really! Here is a free consultation! If I bought your house today, this is what I would do: - paint house body BM Nantucket Grey - paint house trim a non-stark white color - ditch the shutters (I call them wasp condos) and beef up the trim around the windows - paint the front door a nice glossy deep red from Fine Paints of Europe - solid granite latern posts, for birdhouse too - since I hate having to paint them - paint fence same white color as trim - get rid of asphalt and replace with pavers That's what I would do. What do you (not some sonsultant) want for YOUR house?...See MoreHelp! I'm at a loss about what color to paint my living room!
Comments (15)Anele, you know your paint companies palettes - the ming red was a Sherwin Williams color. I'm not sure it's still an active color, but they still have it in their formulary because I buy small cans for touchup and according to my record book, it's definitely called "Ming Red." Honestly, if it wasn't for wanting to paint the dining room the paprika I found, I'd keep the red in the living room. I'm just ready for changes. When I finally got rid of my eucalyptus-y/sage green in my family room and went to expresso it was kind of galvanizing. The gold is really a bit richer than the washed out picture and it still makes me happy, but I'm in the mood for a change. The current color is just a few shades lighter than the curry (same basic color family) you posted above - and it does make wonderful changes with the light levels throughout the day and evening. It took a lot of painted 4x4' squares I moved around the room to find it, lol. I like the idea of green, but I'm just not sure since I got rid of green in my family room. Then again, shades of green, reds, and golds have always been my comfort zone - although I was blues, browns, white and pops of red before I married. I don't really care that much about the living room rug - I can easily put it somewhere else in the house, probably my office - but I'm stuck with the chairs until my daughter moves out and takes them, she likes the retro Alhambra print, although I've toyed with placing them at the head of the table in the dining room and getting a couple of new chairs eventually for the living room....See MoreKL Mc
