Art Placement Help- photoshop

Hi, we recently painted our living room and are trying to figure out how to display our art in here. I really want to hang these 4 tapestry pieces together, and over the couch was where I had envisioned... but now that I hold them there (there should be 4, in a square) it doesn’t seem to sufficiently fill the space. Looks awkward. My next thought is to hang the 4 in the “dining room” between the couch and the window, and then hang something like this Anthropologie tapestry over the couch... but does that look too crammed?

Is someone able to photoshop these 4 tapestries (15 3/4” x 21.5” each) in:

A) the best spot over the couch
B) in the “dining room” between the window and the couch, with the 4’ x 5.25’ Anthropologie art over the couch
C) any other suggestions welcome

Thanks! Please excuse window coverings, the blinds are on order. Also, the Anthropologie website lists the incorrect size for that tapestry. The dimensions above are correct.

Pardon me for asking, but are you sure that's the BEST layout for your furnishings? It seems like the area would be more open if the sofa were placed on the back wall.

Art is often placed above the sofa on the wall.

I agree, one of the last two arrangements, which appear to be the same to me. As for placement on the wall, I would try to mount them so they are no higher than the corner formed by the catwalk on the right. If mounted too high, they will look like they are floating away. You might want to play around with paper cutouts on the wall before getting out the hammer and nails.

The square made it seem like the art was just randomly placed, since the wall is so large and the couch only comes out so far, so there’s a lot of dead space. Although I suppose there is a lot of dead space with the straight line as well... I don’t know why I am finding this so hard! I have looked closely at pale oak, but in this room it seems to look like a cool off white with a tinge of grey in it, when I would rather have a colour with a bit more creaminess to it maybe?

That’s a valid question, I wish I could place the couch against the wall but unfortunately it’s a matter of where the tv is, and because of the opposite wall being all windows... this is how it’s laid out

It’s getting dark, and it’s a bit of a construction zone in some areas but you can get the gist. I can not have my Tv on a wall where anyone walking/driving outside can see what I’m watching, it’s just not an option for me. Would make me feel uncomfortable.

Put your tv where it makes the most sense and buy some drapes for privacy.

Give us a measured floorplan and you'll get better advice. My point was not to let your windows limit your furniture arrangement.

Can you change the lounge on the sofa so that it works on either side?

From your photos, this is all I have been able to surmise. Can you fill in the missing half of your home?

Yes the chaise can switch to either side of the couch, you have my floor plan down! The area you appear to have the questions marks doesn’t exist in our floor plan. That is our small front entrance where you have the question marks in your floor plan. It is a split level, so we have an upstairs with 3 bedrooms and 2 levels of basement

Your home has some MCM details and IMO and I would reinforce those design details. I'm guessing that a larger screen TV might be a benefit to the house. By moving the sofa and giving the wall to the TV/media you have space for the larger screen.

This plan shows the furnishings arrangement and locations for art or wall decor (green) and the TV (blue)

There are simple wall hung wood units that will hold components and allow you to place art above the screen if you wish.

Here is a simple assembly of a cabinet for components, the screen offset & space for floating shelves to display items.

This is the optimum height for mounting the TV

Simple wall hung cabinets are available online for purchase.

If you have more components to store, this BESTA unit from IKEA can accommodate them.

I think you can use the tapestries between the sofa and TV, but closer to the tv then in your photo. Mount them in the middle of the space between the tv wall and the back of the sofa. Move your stereo equipment to the other side of the window, and get a much lower console for use under the tv so it can be lowered to a better viewing height.
