Please help! Pool concrete removal gone wrong!
Comments (1)Heh, nice. If you plan on hanging the brick over the edge of the pool, you'll need to replace the coping with a side-mount (aka face-mount) one anyways. We got this done last week, and it cost ~$900 with materials/labour included. The installer used an aluminum coping from Kafko. I couldn't find a photo of the profile from Kafko, but it is similar to the "front mount track" in the (attached) link from pondexpools. He used hex-head tek self-taping bolts, spaced about every 3-4". The vinyl liner pops into the track, then the a plastic insert goes into the coping to lock it in place. My pool has 45 degree corners, so he just mitered the coping with a hack-saw. If you have very small radius corners, you might need to get them bent from the manufacturer. Just make sure the cutting is done away from the pool. It would suck to ruin your liner with metal shavings. Here is a link that might be useful: sample coping...See MoreHELP! Marble Install gone wrong!
Comments (20)Your marble and kitchen are gorgeous! I feel so bad for you, I went through this several months ago. The fabricator that did mine did not have the equipment nor expertise as Old Ryder said. They very eagerly took my island back saying no problem, they'd have it repaired in a few days or use another slab from the same lot. When I called to see when they would reinstall, the owner told me he could not meet my expectations and would give me a full refund. This was not what I wanted nor expected. Long story short, I have a black walnut island now. Fortunately, yours is a new build so the GC should make this right by hiring an expert to fix it. Keep us posted....See MoreHelp! Comments (19)Still can't post pictures using full site on my laptop but I can post pics using phone app. So weird. Thanks everyone for the ideas. Talked to fabricator, basically he measured/cut wrong. Nothing can be done at this point. They also broke one of the dual vanity bathroom sink when installing vanity counter. When I tried to order another sink for the dual vanity, it'd been discontinued, argh. May need to remove the one sink already installed and buy 2 new sinks. I hate Murphy's Law. Here are more pics. Kitchen peninsula is 123" x 44" plus a another small section that make up the L shape. The seem was done well. A corner was chipped a little. A close up pic shows a surface scratch (really hard to see) and a crack under the surface easily seen. I put an iPhone 6 Plus and a 1.5" glass cabinet door knob on the peninsula as reference. Really love the inset cabinets....See MoreHelp! Bathroom Shower Install Gone Wrong
Comments (56)@Kate I know I didn't pay money for it, and GC or a plumber can only be blamed here and I know like most in here do, pros or not that a handheld showerhead shouldn't be installed under another showerhead. All I did is say that any of the contractor's GC or the Plumber should have asked you and marked the locations how you want this installed or if you left them the pictures of how it should be installed they should have to make sure it was done that way, obviously, this detail was missed. I'm glad you spun the showerhead to the other side and it looks much better... Yes, the was a minor hick-up with the fixture location but I'm glad it was a manageable fix to make it look better and I hope you will shake down your GC for lunch or dinner because of that mistake and move on. Look at the overall picture, the shower looks great, looks like excellent workmanship, tiles look good, fixtures installed nicely, considering, and I'm sure you will enjoy it for a long time. Good luck...See MoreErin N
