I would have removed Office 2000 first so that I get a squeaky clean install of Office 2007. Why start with a possibly muddied environment? At some point during the install of Office 2007 you are prompted to insert the Office 2000 CD verifying you are entitled to upgrade. When the install offered to browse for the old office it was looking for your CD which you would place in the drawer at that point. I do not believe just pointing to the folder was good enough, you needed to point to the executable file if you preferred that route to offering the original CD.

Did they break ground yet? It is my understanding that you sign contracts, the builder puts it to attorney review which usually takes 2 weeks here. During this time, you go to the design center to pick the upgrades and while picking them, may have to put money down on them so that they can be ordered. I'm seeing a bunch of builders, KB Homes, Pulte, American West, Richmond, Summerlin, DRHorton, Lennar, Toll Brothers, Beazer, Engle, Centex with pricing jumping all over the place. Looking at those sites, some start off cheaper. It may be possible that they will move you to another cheaper location so that they don't lose you as a client and you don't lose your money. If they have not poured foundation or broken ground, it's possible they will change the model to a cheaper one if there is a cheaper one. I don't think all is lost. One never knows, depending on how far along this is. We just put a bid in on a house that the original people changed their minds by deciding to build on another lot. The house had granite in the kitchen, a faucet that was over $2,000 as well as things we didn't need. We were able to take some things out even though the sales lady wasn't sure if we could. We then figured out what the house was worth to us and placed a bid which was accepted. They may have pulled permits or poured foundation but also may be able to sell the house to someone else. There's another property that we were offered that we passed on. Last week it was being framed but still not sold. They are called quick move in homes and usually sell. Builders are hurting. Look at K. Hov's sale this weekend. While you may still qualify for a loan, you may not qualify for as much. They very well may work with you, so you should prepare for that. Getting into a community farther away with a less expensive base may be the only way you don't lose it all.

I like a lot about it...the bedroom door in the hallway, the bathroom as a buffer against the noise in the public areas, the openness between the kitchen and other rooms, you get a nice entry area, and hallways are kept to a minimum. The only thing to think about on the exterior is you want to make the front door the most important part of the front facade which is more difficult since it is recessed behind the bedroom. So think about porch/landscape to keep it important. I'm assuming the driveway is on the left. If so, you can angle the front door toward the left and make that whole corner into a porch/front entry which will make the bedroom bump out less important.

I’m late on this but as a person who has rented, I get what Tori is saying, and I also agree with the majority of the people on this thread. Here’s my 2 cents and I may have missed something because I didn’t read every single reply. 1) wondering if the landlord would let you paint the cabinets? 2) if that is a no, it looks like your counter tops are black, and your appliance, do the kitchen walls in a nice crisp white, maybe get a large rung that has some black and white in it and do all your kitchen decor items in black and white. Maybe a fun graphic rug, check Overstock. Do black and white wall art. Utilize those white shelves above for more decor, books etc. 3) in the bathroom, same idea but maybe have more fun and maybe do a temp wall paper that embraced the color...maybe do palm leaves. Check the Tempaper website and also Amazon and Target sell that brand, It works beautifully and no damage when it comes off. Cover the floor with a rug if you can. 4) Don’t paint the walls in the rest of the house white it makes all the wood more pronounced. Check Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, it makes the wood not so glaring. See if you can paint the chair rail and molding if possible :-). 5) Put sisal rugs everywhere you can to cover the carpet, check Overstock again. Do a beige border. 6) Get rid of those window treatments and do some nice grommet drapery from Target. Put it up as high as you can and have it just graze the floor. Don’t have it inches above the floor. I hope some of that helps since you are already moved in :-).
