living room dilemma
Comments (5)I think you'll have a difficult time balancing this furniture, given the super wide doorway to the next room. Personally, I'd move the sofa back, so it faces the fireplace and is viewed as you enter from the adjacent room. Although it may make for difficulty in conversation, I'd move both chairs to the left. For balance, you might try a tall and wide shelving unit on the far right wall. To make it easier, why not "build" something from pieces of cardboard and move it around until it suits you (or not). You may end up wanting a larger piece of art on the wall to the right, or some floating shelving....See Morei’m having a living-room dilemma
Comments (7)I believe 2 chairs offer more flexibility vs a loveseat. heres a couple ideas, both neutral but different neutral colors and different styles. one chair facing the window with a side table that can service the sofa and the chair. another chair angled into the room at the window, hard to tell how much room you have but it seems like you have enough roommfor 2 chairs...See MoreLiving room dilemma
Comments (3)Really great space. Liking all the natural light. Remember that what you put on your balcony will be visible from, and, therefore, a part of your living room decor as well. If you like a lot of plants, you could even add shelving to create a "green wall" of plants indoors -- and, in addition to Houzz, you might enjoy https://old.reddit.com/r/houseplants/. Consider the seasons in your planting zone. Do choose plants and plant stands that will enable you to move the plants you intend to put on your balcony indoors or outdoors as needed. For that narrow balcony, a couple of comfortable collapsing camping chairs and a small table might be the best beginning. The term BOHO, to me, implies a more casual vibe and furnishings focused on comfort rather than a formal room. Not personally a fan of the green rug with the gray sofa and walls but in a BOHO vibe room, it could work with the right accessories to connect the two colors. Unless you have no privacy concerns and are already planning to use only sheers ... and though I am likely the only one that would recommend it ... do at least consider white vertical blinds (vinyl or wood depending upon your budget) for your window-walls. They'll provide more privacy and light control options -- and white blinds tend to visually "disappear" better than reams of fabric hung on the wall. The "dry bar" seems totally irrelevant to the space. Would want the walls of the niche painted the same color as the walls of the room. If this is a rental, I'd add shelving above the base cabinet. If you own this condo, unless you have a specific use for this feature as is, consider removing the cabinets and adding plain bi-fold closet doors installed within the niche and painted the same color as the walls to make them visually disappear as much as possible -- a lot more useful since we all seem to need more closet space. I do like the look of your sofa. You may want to rethink your placement of it, though -- especially if this space is a living / dining combo -- so use your sofa as the room divider. If there is to be a television in this room -- unless you are placement limited by a cable connection -- you may find that putting the television in the corner between the two windows yields the least glare. Consider investing in portable tv stand that will let you easily adjust the positioning for glare ... unless you intend to only watch the telly at night. https://www.wayfair.com/Wade-Logan%C2%AE--Caulkins-TV-Stand-for-TVs-up-to-55-X115973500-L6-K~W004862499.html?refid=GX496871586189-W004862499&device=c&ptid=1198921003886&network=g&targetid=pla-1198921003886&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=141191053&fdid=1817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxd7Qp6HR8QIV721vBB2cjgWZEAQYByABEgJcT_D_BwE If you will draw, to scale (graph paper) the size and shape of your room with its fixed features -- windows and doors -- along with measurements and post that, you'll get more feedback on what is possible....See MoreLiving room dilemma
Comments (8)@Sara Nicole I like your last rendition much better! Keeps the dining area close to kitchen - better flow for serving clearing etc. Is the door to left of entry a bedroom? I would float couch closer to the chairs giving it more distance from entry. This would also give you room to add a table in space between entry door & corner for coat rack, or table etc to define entry. Floating more lenght of couch back into the open space past wall also gives the opportunity to place a narrow console talble behind couch to set a lamp on, place a tall floor plant etc & further separate the dining area from seating. If you don’t have furniture yet, you’ll need to choose wisely with all room measurements in hand! ETA not sure about chaise - that’s the very last thing I’d purchase after the sofa & really comfy chairs!...See Morewalkidian Deleon
