My inclination would be to paint the walls bright white and let the rest of the accents be the color players. White is the backdrop I've often seen, or been drawn to, when I look up bohemian pictures. I'd also put a really large area rug in the room that only left a few inches of bare floor around the perimeter of the room. This way, no matter which way the room is arranged, the rug is always the right size. If your daughter is anything like I was, the room will be rearranged many times during her teen years! : ) You could still layer her little rug over the large rug for her reading nook. I think that room on Blackish is so cute. I don't know how to paint/decorate. I am having trouble because most rooms you see with shared boy/girl rooms they are twin beds and each side decorated differently. I will have a Twin over full bunk/loft bed. The kids really like the sports decals.. I am not tied to them but unsure how to pull this room together with either paint or something. UGH.. I wanted to hopefully paint next weekend. Any other ideas.

Everything needs a home but what kind of home? Can the room be zoned? If your child is visual (and/or has ADHD), closed storage might be a losing battle. (Out of sight, out of mind.) If you go with the affordable and versatile option of storage cubbies, the bins can be identified with polaroids of the items or pictures. Make sure it's as easy to put things away as it is to take them out. Hooks are often easier than hangers, for example. Dresser drawers can benefit from dividers or little bins where socks and underwear can be unceremoniously dumped in them. Consider the "one in, one out" rule with toys to keep it manageable. Observe your child at play to see what gets used and what's forgotten. Can the stuff be pared down? ETA: Here are some ideas for storing Legos. Check Pinterest for toy-specific storage ideas but remember to keep it simple. No need for contrived systems. Kids have been known to outgrow their favourite toys (;-)) and you don't want to be stuck with expensive custom-designed solutions that aren't versatile.
