I like your idea of the loft bed, but why not put a twin bed under to give them more room? Head of the bed could be under the loft bed. I like the polka dots but might be too "youngish" for your children. I like the posters and I think they will also. I imagine they will have "ideas" for their room...

Thanks. I was worried about the dots beign too young as well. I am just unsure what colors to do with the sports decals. I need the Full size bed for when guests come.. plus we already have the Full and a twin so I won't have to buy a new mattress. I might leave the full bed directly underneath the twin but them rotate it when we have guests.

I made my own polka dot wall when was was 20 and at university. I cut variously sized circles out of fluorescent construction paper and then arranged them on the wall in patterns that I liked. They looked great under black light. To my surprise, my sister brought a friend with a baby to visit, and the baby absolutely loved the polka dots on the wall, but I did not consider them juvenile.

My own children shared a room at that age. I did the room in primary colors. I'm not into "themes". When DD decided to move out to another room, the primary colors were perfect for DS.

I think that room on Blackish is so cute. I don't know how to paint/decorate. I am having trouble because most rooms you see with shared boy/girl rooms they are twin beds and each side decorated differently. I will have a Twin over full bunk/loft bed.

The kids really like the sports decals.. I am not tied to them but unsure how to pull this room together with either paint or something. UGH..

I wanted to hopefully paint next weekend. Any other ideas.

Will you share a photo of the room or a rough sketch of the layout? We might be able to suggest another way to visually divide the room. Can you create some separation by placing the loft on one side of the room and the bed on the other side?

I would also look at college dorm room photos. Many have loft set ups and some college girls (and probably their moms) do some very inventive decorating.

If the kids like the decals, that's a good place to start. I'd pick the top two, so I could work with assorted blues, but they'd probably like it if you let them each pick one.

I would definitely skip the brother/sister print though. That will turn them against each other faster than anything else . :)

I have a room planner from when it was a nursery but the dimensions are not on there. Let me see if I can find a picture or find the dimensions.

He wants the Red/Orange one - he is very into lacrosse. My daughter thinks she wants the soccer one (Pinkish/yellow) one.

Good idea on looking at dorm rooms. I'll google that as well.
