Needing paint color advice, as well as suggestions with fireplace

We purchase this house knowing it needed a fresh coat. Our last house we used Sherwin Williams Pediment through 85% of the house and loved it. This current house dated and dark. it has the Saltillo tile through most of the downstairs.

We initially thought pediment would work here as well. Any thoughts? Also would like to replace mantle on fireplace with a wood beam look. Paint the brick or leave it. Any other suggestions?

Pediment has too much red and black to be successful in your new home. Select a white paint

Follow Beverly's suggestion and try several warm white paints. Do you know the existing color on the walls? I think you want to be careful not to clash with the red floors.

I love your fireplace and think it would be tricky to change out the mantel. Leave that project for last. Paint the walls and get your furniture settled and see what you think.

Can I also second getting a local color consultant to come to visit this very pretty home? I have also had tons of luck calling the SW color line (and its free!). They helped me out of a color jam a few years ago and just recently again. I painted my outside trim SW Fleur de Sel. It was a mistake. It can read very blue-gray. I was heartbroken but it was too late. Now I needed to paint my front door and it needed to coordinate with my reclaimed orange brick and now this odd trim color. My husband wanted a yellow and wanted to pick SW Sunny Day. I about cried. The SW phone line came to the rescue (with no pics nonetheless) and suggested Colonial Yellow. It looks fabulous. They have been so nice on the phone every time. Now I have not had the same luck with BM phone line, but did use one of their local home consultants once and it was a pretty good experience.

What do you think of a deep gray color? Would that work for you? Is that original mantel? Yes, the blue is coming through the crackled treatment for sure. If you do go with a dark gray or even one of the blacks that aren't total black, you could repeat that color in two other places in your room to tie everything together. A black lamp shade and perhaps a small black accessory for a coffee table and then the blacks (or dark colors) all come together and make sense. Let us know if you want some suggestions on black or gray paints.

ceiling and wall color paint but what color I need suggestion

You can't use a cool white with those cabinets, you need a warm white. Look at BM Simply White and/or SW Alabaster. You can get peel and stick samples from Samplize.com, or paint sample swatches on your walls. Alternatively, you can paint samples on a board or scrap piece of drywall so you can move it around to look at it on all four walls. Be sure to paint two coats when sampling and hold the board vertically against your floors and counters since that's the way the color will be next to them. Sometimes it helps to paint a section with primer to look at your samples against so you're not distracted by the existing color. Look at the samples at different times of the day and when it's cloudy and sunny. The way a color looks is so dependent upon the lighting and direction your windows face. There is no way to know what is going to work without trying a couple. You can paint the ceiling the same color, or use what the paint store calls "ceiling white" which is very neutral. Ceilings tend to pick up tint from the surroundings.

Thank you for the suggestions. As far as the fireplace goes, we have talked about painting the brick or white washing it. we think their is too much contrast with the floor. We have started to look at warmer whites. The current color is more taup like and the trim has some yellow it. We are tryin to get away from the yellowy look.

we have looked at natural choice and ballet (Ben Moore) with bohemian lace on the trim. The main living areas on the first floor ( master bed, lr, den and kitchen all have the Saltillo tile, the kitchen cabinets are yellowish/creamy with an antique glaze.
