I need advice about painting my brick fireplace
Comments (7)Perhaps you need a stipple brush. These are most often used for stenciling, but are also used for other paint techniques. A stipple brush applies paint in an up and down motion which might be better at getting paint into the holes. Here is a picture of two types. The one on the right is typical of stencil brushes while the one on the left is most often used on walls. I do not know that this will fix your problem, but it's the first thing that came to mind. You might be able to thin the kilz with water. Thinner paint is more likely to flow into the tiny holes. Also try using a sponge to apply the thinned paint....See MoreNeed advice for painting this table
Comments (35)I think the table is nice. Like tuesday_2008 mentioned. The table was inexpensive go ahead and play around with it. I personally don't care for that particular white paint on it now. If you want to try the silver go for it. If you don't like it you can always paint again! Decorating especially with paint can always be trial and error. I've had a few of the errors over the years! But that's how you learn and improve....See MoreFireplace Wall Paint Color Advice Needed
Comments (5)I would paint the wall behind your fireplace to give it "pop" as your focal point. Same color as wall would have it blend into the wall. I like this color, but the key question is what other colors are you working with in that room? You could pick up a color that pleases you from an area rug, a painting, or throw pillows. ( It looks like the former homeowner picked up that burgundy-brown color from the floor?) Also, there is a lot going on (visually) in this scene. I would declutter a bit and re-think the accents on your mantel and mantel wall----clock is small. Focus on cohesiveness and balance. Hope this helps!...See MoreNeeding paint color advice, as well as suggestions with fireplace
Comments (3)Thank you for the suggestions. As far as the fireplace goes, we have talked about painting the brick or white washing it. we think their is too much contrast with the floor. We have started to look at warmer whites. The current color is more taup like and the trim has some yellow it. We are tryin to get away from the yellowy look. we have looked at natural choice and ballet (Ben Moore) with bohemian lace on the trim. The main living areas on the first floor ( master bed, lr, den and kitchen all have the Saltillo tile, the kitchen cabinets are yellowish/creamy with an antique glaze. the natural choice and the ballet still have a yellow creamy tint to it. Do we keep the walls, trim ano cabinets the same color and use more of a white lIke bohemian lace?...See MoreAlly L
