I agree with you on the color. Maybe you can get a new lighter slipcover? Is that a possibility. I think that would make all the difference. Beg hubby, from me to part with his recliner lol. Or move it to the basement or attic. 🤭
Once the couch is determined we can start with the art and accents. But first let’s sort that out. You will probably need some more pillows. Some lamps. Art. Frames. Maybe a huge family photo or something. Plants. Flowers ....

Thanks for that feedback! Pottery barn slipcovers are so expensive! I love the look of the white slip covered sofas so I’ll likely go with purchasing the IKEA white sofas

Before moving forward on purchasing the 2 sofas, how will you be using this room? Is a TV going in there? If so, I would consider placement of that first. Also, if you absolutely must keep the navy chair, then I would tie it in with navy and white accessories: accent pillows, a throw, etc. The room in general looks nice so think about the overall use before moving forward.

Thanks! Yes TV is above fireplace. We are pretty casual, house is a 3000 sq fr ranch with detached garage. Space is mainly used for watching tv and some small entertaining. Directly off the Family room is a large kitchen and eating area approx 30x15 area which is where most everyone gathers. In a few more years after kids start moving out we will remodel a little. We do have an additional gathering spot above our detached garage with sofa and tv that is a 24x24 ft space decorated with all my husbands hunting and fishing stuff.

Is that a comfortable spot (above the fireplace) to view the TV? It seems a bit high. If it works for you, that’s fine and perhaps the chair could flank along one side of the fireplace. If you move the TV, you’ll probably need a media console. I wouldn’t address the walls until you decide on what furniture stays and goes.

We will likely leave the tv above the fireplace, when we use the tv we can pull it lower. I really am struggling with the placement and colors of the sofas. Because of the layout of the room it seems that the only 2 places would be either against the wall or in the middle like I have it.
But I don’t know if anyone else as suggestions? One thought was to replace the sectional with 2 white slipcovered loveseats, same L placement as the sectional but could have a small table between. That’s what I am struggling most with right now ... then I can start adding throw pillows and tables and art

I would stick with a sectional. If you do replace. Maybe a bit bigger will help fill out the space a little more. I would love a love seat in place of Ur hubbys beautiful recliner lol.
