I think I agree with you. I wouldn't want a wall light or a bar light either. Trailrunner has a wall light over her sink, but she is doing a very specific look, an 1890s kitchen

I would try to get a shorter light bar..or a light designed in a way where two sconces come out of one plate, for example.. I think there should be some difference in width between the lighting and the mirror I might not pay any attention to it in someone else's home-but it my own it would be slightly bugging me also, the bar itself seems a bit too..substantial, for a frameless mirror. maybe something thinner, or more fluid in shape? of course I see them on the pic and not in a real life; that can influence how i imagine them together.

If you're going with a large light, not sure you need 2. And drum shades can be nice, but they can also be obstructive. When going for openness, keep things open. Do you really even need overhead lights? What about having some cool table-top light fixture over by the wall. I'm just noticing that I don't care for much of any of my overhead lighting. I like the warmth of incandescent light bulbs so still love my vintage lamps. Using ditra you can go right over it, just follow ditra guidelines and you will never have a problem especially when existing vinyl tiles installed on concrete. Keep in mind that Ditra allows dissimilar materials to act independently of each other this why the tile or grout will never crack even if there is differential movement between the subfloor and the tile. We used ditra over asbestos tiles installed in the kitchen about 6 yrs ago over an old wood floor in a house that was built in the 20s and there was no issues then and there is no issues a year ago when I was there doing a deck repair.
