It doesn’t look like you have the clearance for a rod, nor much space on either side for the panels when curtains are open. Maybe consider a Roman shade if you want the soft look of fabric?

You are going to need a ceiling mounted track, and a LOT of fabric. This is not a run to Bed bath beyond DIY project. At All.

The windows and style of the house seem better suited to a softer / more decorative window shade.

Thank you! Side panels are exactly what I had in mind. I have uploaded 3 more photos. One is before holiday decorations were in the way. The sofa table is temporary. The plants are there temporarily as well. The two other photos give a closer look at the problem spot at the top of the far right window and a panoramic view of the whole wall.

Yes.....you have plenty of room, as long as you are willing to cover the actual window a bit.
