Have you chosen the new furniture yet? I t would help to see it if you have, to determine what would look best with the furniture. Do you draw the drapes that you have now at night?

Are you open to repainting? The green looks a little dark, and it will look more spacious and up-to-date with an off-white, or light gray and light draperies that match the wall color. It looks like your hardwood could use a sanding and darken the color at the same time?

Once you get the "bones" of the room taken care of it will be easier to pick out new seating and rug.

I don't think there is any issue if you would like to do shutters. The installer just builds the frame out to support the shutters and allow for clearance. Here is a layout for your room. Pull your furniture away from the walls and consider repainting the walls.

You have a beautiful view, and privacy, and will lose a lot of it with shutters. I would use roman shades instead, so you can close them at night but have them fully open during the day. You can use three blinds with one header on your windows.
