Where is everyone getting window treatments from these days?

Looking for window treatments. Shades, drapes, etc. Fabric, bamboo. I hear mixed reviews about Smith and Noble as well as Hunter Douglas. Any suggestions? Need multiple rooms done. TIA!

Check with a local workroom. Many designers will also help you

I haven't ordered any custom drapes for a few years now, but am getting ready to order custom bedding. I'm planning to use the workroom that an independent fabric store in my city recommends.

Break this down into two steps to make it easier. Tackle function first. Don't worry about a valance until after you live with the shade for a while. Get dressed and go to the stores and play with their displays. Find one that give you privacy, but also works with your fan. The valance is just fluff and you might decide that with your clean lines that you don't want one. The pleated shades that Daisy mentioned sounds just like what you need. Even a nice tailored pulldown sounds great with your Shaker-style furniture.

I worry white wouldn’t accomplish enough of a blackout though? Even if lined. We have tan ones in our house with blackout liners and they still let light through. The white is also stark white which wouldn’t really go with anything except the trim, and the only trim on the windows is the sill - not a complete wrap.

I had a great experience with Smith & Noble! And I did quite a few custom draperies, including 18 foot floor to ceiling drapes. Great quality, great service, always a good % off.

Different sources for different items. Custom drapes can be made by JC Penney or a custom workroom or even Calico Corners. Also check HalfPriceDrapes.com

I was wondering if JCPenney still does that. They used to be the go to place even for ready made. That and Spiegel. ( Another post made me veer off on that so I am just living in the past).

I would definitely try JCP for starters and I have heard great things about Half Price Drapes.

You may want to clarify whether you can measure, order and install yourself or if you need someone to come in and help you through the whole process.

When determining if the places you speak with will make quality drapes, be sure to ask if they line and interline, use weights, and "bumps".
