Mostly just said stuff such as, "I think the mitten is here," when I mean, "I think the mail is here." Word stuff.

I found the grape jelly in the cabinet where we keep the peanut butter, instead of in the fridge ! '

Recently I was trying to dismount my bike. My hip doesn't work as well any more, so instead of swinging my leg over, I lean the bike and step over.

Yep, I tripped. Capsized with the bike on top of me. Fortunately I still bounce, so no harm done.

I have a problem with words. I know what I want to say, but just can't remember the word for it, so I might say that thing you wear on your head (hat).

Scares the crap outta me that I'm losing it!

DH & I take turns cooking dinner. I cooked last night. I like to get the spices, casserole dishes/pots/pans, measuring cups and spoons I'm going to need lined up ahead of time. I took a recipe card out of my file box for scalloped turnips, laid it in the casserole dish then gathered other things. Then, I couldn't find the darn recipe. I looked everywhere, so did he.

I had moved it to the counter and absentmindedly set the butter dish on top of it.

When I went to make the turnips, I was missing the recipe card again. DH had tucked it back under the butter dish, just to rile me. I had to laugh.

Skipped a generation. I went back in time Sunday. I was chatting with a guy I hadn't seen in over 20 years. I was discussing some history with a couple of younger men I had just met. An older one walked up and said he knew me. After a few words I thought I'd figured out who he was. Then he stated a different place we had met. I then realized he was not who I thought he was but that man's son! I caught myself and told him he looked just like his dad. So I was caught in a time warp. New blood, new generations makes life confusing for this old woman. Especially since I don't feel old enough to be around so many younger generations.

I gave someone a gift today and for the life of me, I can't remember what was in the gift bag. I know I chose it for that person, but my mind is blank.

Looked all over for a grocery list. It was RIGHT THERE on the counter then GONE. Drove me crazy. The next day I got a call from a friend after leaving a birthday gift at her door. She said the card I left with the gift included my grocery list. 😏

I was talking to my brother last week. The topic turned into "this digital age" and music and I said something like, "Oh there were so many quartets where you didn't need a musical instrument in the 50s. What a pleasant way to spend an evening."

He just roared. He said boy, you have really joined the dowdy oldsters. "What a pleasant way to spend an evening."

I read thru the above posts and had to laugh at them, simply because I have done all of the above as well.

The most recent episode was just on the past wknd.

Pre pandemic I walked out of a restaurant and mentioned I must have left my glasses inside. My cousin just looked at me and said Anne.... The glasses were on my face and I was looking out of them. haha we had such a good laugh. My glasses must have been really clean for me to think I wasn't wearing them haha

I'm just glad I'm not alone in reading all your tales. I do at least one stupid thing a day.

Never. I never do anything like put the scoop of coffee grounds into the mug instead of the filter! Nope! That wasn't me!

I misplace my phone a lot. I look all over the house, and even in the car. I know I got home with it. I usually find it in my back jean pocket.

Ladtpat, we have a family legend along those lines. My dad had been in the hospital, and I was there to take him home. His SO had come in her car. She suddenly realized that she couldn't find her car keys. We tore the hospital room apart, we looked in his packed up belongings, we probably spent 20 minutes and couldn't find her keys. Suddenly she found them, in her pants pocket. Her excuse was "I never carry them in that pocket."

"Well I never carry them in that pocket" has become an all-purpose excuse in our family.

Oh not me, misplacing my phone all day. I use it for ordering, questions ,kitchen table. Hubs is always helping me by calling my number. Imagine there is an easier technology way to find it. He has to help me at least twice a day.

my friend called me and told me she had lost her cell phone and-had looked absolutely everywhere.I said well I will dial your cell number and if its in the house. She laughed and said" I never thought about that" It was in a drawer right near where she was standing covered up with papers.We both had a good laugh ,this getting old sure does things to our brains and I seem worse since the covid shutdown and being alone so much.I find it upsetting to not being as sharp as I used to be.

I seem to have a problem of spilling food on me and all of the above.

Are prunes humorous? I used to think so, when Grandma and Grandpa insisted on having them for breakfast.

Looking for my glasses while wearing them. Looking for my phone while talking on it.

I took my (real paper) newspaper into work with me each day, to read over my breakfast or lunch break. The young staff would tell me that I was "so cute" for doing that!

I made a cup of coffee yesterday, in my one cup coffeemaker - but I left the cup sitting on the counter! I had to mop up hot coffee from inside all of the lower drawers and the floor.

raee - I did the same thing just the other day but our coffee maker is a 10 cup one - oops!!

My hubby has forgotten the cup too. More than once.

Still remember my Mom rushing to get ready for work and mixing up her hair spray with the spray on deodorant!! Yikes!

Well, I don’t know how humorous, but last night I washed the last of the lettuce for dinner, then forgot to make a salad. So I put the washed lettuce into a Ziplok container like we always do.

This afternoon I did a quick between-grocery-shops run and, knowing I had washed the last of the lettuce, picked up a head of lettuce.

Tonight we had that new lettuce in a salad. DH went to put away the washed lettuce after dinner, pulled out a Ziplok box, and . . . There’s last night‘s lettuce.

Here‘s the thing, though. DH has been cooking dinner ever since he moved his office home a few years ago. I was still shopping, which I enjoy, but my shopping style did not meld with his cooking style. So, I let him do the shopping. But, I do fill-in shopping, and will cook when he can’t. It is NOT a good system, because there is no system to it. TMI, I know, but it’s what throws me off even, apparently, when it comes to putting washed lettuce away! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. (Actually, I do thrive on routine and systems, and this food thing has been driving me nuts.)

I just found my morning vitamins on the kitchen island (it's now 6 p.m.). Guess I got distracted.

In making a comment on one of Glenda's threads Trash Day creeps up on me. Twice a year we can put out extra bags. Several times I have ran around the yard tossing things in a bag the day of collection because I thought it was not that day or one time even that week. I keep a pile of things that are too heavy, broken, or bulky that I can put out in those huge very thick contractors trash bags.

I once wore two different shoes to a meeting. Another time, I panicked when I had great difficulty pulling on my winter boots. Did my feet swell that much? These weren't even my boots - I was at my sister's and I forgot that she had a pair identical to mine. After a restaurant meal, I tried unlocking the car door of a strange vehicle. It took my DM to point out that it wasn't my car.

I've tried to get in an identical Suburu parked next to ours. Even had a decal in the back where ours is. I also tried to use the portable phone to change the channel when both were on my lap.

Yesterday I washed my credit card and CVS card, both of which I had left in a shirt pocket. I found the credit card in the washer, and so it did not go into the dryer, but I did not find the CVS card until I was folding the clothes that I took out of the dryer.

When I found the credit card in the bottom of the washer, I knew that the CVS card had to be in there as well, but I could not find it in the just washed clothes. However, I was not all that concerned about that card.

I checked some on-line information and learned that my credit card should be okay after washing, but it might have gotten damaged if I had put it through the dryer.

This is not new, however, as my mother washed my driver's license when I was about 16, and that did make it somewhat unreadable, but I kept it that way anyway.
Drivers' licenses weren't as durable back then as they are now.

Washed my red jacket yesterday. Took it out of the dryer, put it on and go to zip it up ... where's the zipper pull? Darn, must have slipped off the end somehow. Should I look in the dryer or the washer first? Oh -- look on the OTHER side of my jacket -- there it is!

We had doctor visit with our doctor at hospital. Had left car few blocks over, hubs said I could sit on bench in front of hospital and he would drive up and pick me up. Car like ours pulled in and I stood ,walked over, the door was locked. Tried again, getting little upset that he was not opening. I looked in and in a loud voice, why are you not opening the door. I am standing there trying my best to get in car. I heard a beep and looked back and it was hubs in our car motioning me to come get in our car. Oh my, I was so embarrassed. We pulled out before the gentleman started out and told him I was sorry for trying to get in his car. He was laughing and said he knew what was happening when the car like his pulled up behind him.

Funny (yet not) story about cars.

A friends husband went to pick up pizza. Got home and my friend said, “That’s not our car!” Turns out the fob opened an identical car parked in the pizza lot.

I was cleaning the kitchen last night after dinner. After the dishwasher was loaded, I was wiping the counters and did not see the pepper grinder. I KNOW I just used it. I looked on every counter and the floor and was just about to ( UGH ) go through the garbage. I Iooked in the spice cabinet. There it was front and center. Which had to be a big brain hiccup as I keep spices alphabetically.

I could have written just about each of these, but just now had one. DH came in the house after looking at the snow, took off jacket, boots, gloves, was getting comfy with a cup of coffee and said- where's my phone? He looked in his jacket, looked at the cabinet by the door, etc etc retracing his steps. Finally he asked me to call his cell phone.

I did, and I heard the phone but wasn't quite sure where it was. He was looking in the general area where it sounded to be coming from, but didn't see it. It rang about 7 times and he finally said----------oh- it's in my pants pocket!

In a conversation, I remarked that I had learned to drive using a Model A and someone chirped, who made that simulator? I replied, "Ford of course" and never mentioned that it was a 1927 model or that it was an automobile.

When i walked to school in winter, i wore 'over shoes', and that's a foreign term to many these days. I also wore long johns in winter and slept on a real feather bed.

Over shoes is a foreign term to them? Try "galashes" and see what kind of response you get. Around here, men wore galashes in winter.

Wow, time warp! My dad wore over shoes. They were not the same as galoshes, which I think of as boots. Dad's overshoes were rubber covers only as high as the shoes, didn't go up the leg.

Yes, aok, boots for sure. With lots of buckles to snug them up tight.

Nope wasn't me who put the 2nd teabag in my mug that already had one in it...I swear, wasn't me!

We wore"overshoes"as kids and they were called Rubbers!

The scariest for me was loosing my keys then finding them in the refrigerator. I was concerned, but that was 8 years ago and I don't believe I'm worse!

eld6161, I swear that the grandson of the house across the street has a key remote that locks and unlocks my car. It only seems to happen (locked when I didn't, unlocked when I did) when his car is parked out front.

Making phone calls on the remote control and changing the channel with the phone. Or at least trying.

So here's one not involving me but husband and grandson. GS was over this afternoon helping clear show. Tonight husband and I were at our large mega grocery store . I was somewhere else in the store. Kid walks by and husband looks at him and neither says anything. Both thought it was their relative but then husband said he didn't say anything. And grandson said I was sure it was him but he didn't speak so... Both, of course, we're masked up to their eyes. I told my daughter it was dumb and dumber...

I am SO glad to be among others that are doing similar "scary things". Misery loves company. I have tried , more than once, to dial a number on the remote, and wonder why the phone isn't working! (In my defense, they both look the same). I have noticed I can't come up with the word I need, often times.

Raee, I would see if that was actually the case. You don't want to have your car unlocked.
