Honestly ideally. If you can do anything! I’d square off the windows and do floor to ceiling one rod. If that’s not an option I’m a bit stuck lol!! But I’d probably go with the one rod halfway up you won’t find rounded rods and it’ll just look funny. Unless you go to a custom welder or st but still in my opinion may look off... love this space btw. Soooo pretty!! Ans especially love the windows!

@HU-187528210 - This wall sold me on the house, but it is going to be challenging. It faces SouthEast - so lots and lots of sun. I hate to cover them. I don't need privacy - only woods back there.

@Maureen - What about the light fixtures in between the windows? Would it be ok to have them peeking out?

I would do soalr shades on the top windows to control heat and damaging UV rays and I would make those probably custom and permanent then the same for the lower windows but able to be rolled up on cloudy days the drapes as shown for a nice look IMO the windows do not lend themselves to sheers. BTW the solar shades allow you to keep the view and if you do not need privacy at night just leave the dapes open but always make the drapes be full enough to be able to close not just skimpy panels that really look cheap. No lights are needed there and if you do not do the solar shades those floors and everything else you put in that space will fade .I also think that FP is too unassuming for the windows so I woiuld be looking at taking a nice porcelain large format tile to the ceiling with a nice thick mantel in a wood like the floor. BTW drapes near a FP are never good so maybe just romans shades in the same fabric as the drapes for those windows and please do not put the TV above the FP. I would also close the passthrough it will give you a nice wall for a TV , storage,display arrangement I deally in a wood like the mantel

@Patricia Colwell Consulting Thank you for those thoughts - and I hope to have fun re-doing the FP to make it 'grand'. Interesting idea about the pass through wall bc that is the kitchen and my thought was to plan on taking a good chunk of that wall out (one day) to create a more open space. I hadn't thought about USING that wall for this room - but - I will definitely consider that option. I like it

I would definitely do a single rod just below crown, so that the wall of windows is treated as a single unit and you have the option of opening and closing as needed. You should work with a reputable drapery designer/fabricator to consider stack back minimization since there is such limited wall space on either side of the set of windows. Your side windows should be minimally treated so that your tall windows are truly the focal point of the room. Maybe consider a lightly lined roman shade out of the same sheer fabric used on the set of windows, or just a solar shade for sun control.

If you insist on the rod being in the center of the upper and lower sections (which will not help your sun issue for the upper section), curved corners are available on many decorative hardware styles. You would need to speak with someone well versed in the window covering industry.

I also have two story windows and did side panels from the top down and remote control solar shades on each window. I love the remote control and so worth the added expense. They go up and down several times a day.

The sconces may not stick out enough so you could just leave. If not, just remove if going with drapes on lower half. To totally block out the sun, remote control shades on the top half would work best and I‘m sure the consultant would provide options. Could get a quote on doing the bottom as well, but curtains will definitely be cheaper.

As mentioned above, I'd do remote control, unobtrusive solar shades for the top windows for the times of day and times of year that the sun is blazing. I'd do one rod across the lower windows as in Maureen's pic.

The rest of the room just isn't large enough to pull off two-story curtains. Ceiling height curtains will pull all the visual weight to the window wall. You want the focus on the people level, it makes the room warm and inviting.

My first thought was to close the pass through and put TV there. Second, augment the FP. As for the windows; are they already out of warranty? If so, you can use high tech UV film on them without invalidating the warranty. Otherwise, I'd do custom remote control solar shades on the upper ones and drapes you can close on the lowers. I like a single rod look myself, and would match faux romans on the windows flanking the FP to the drapery fabric.
