Bedroom Window Treatment Advice for Window Next to Wall

I have a dilemma and I need your help! I wish I had better pictures, but I just moved in. As you can see, my bedroom window that is right above my bed is super close to the wall. The existing blinds are cheap and let in too much light. I read many blogs that you are suppose to hang curtains high and wide, but I don't have the option since my bed is pushed up against the wall. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to treat this window? I was thinking a roman or blackout bamboo shade would do the trick and then maybe put a decorative curtain over it? I have never had to hang a curtain or shades in my life and have no clue wear to start! If I did a roman shade would I hang it inside or outside? Would I hang the curtain higher than the window? Any advice or suggestions would be extremely appreciated! Thank you in advance!

There's no other way to arrange the furniture? If you post a floor plan (hand drawn is ok) showing measurements of furniture, walls, window width and doors, maybe there is another solution.

But if you don't want to do that, I'd just get some nice looking shades of your choice (bamboo or roman) and not worry at all about covering them with draperies.

Depending on the size of your window, you might have to outside mount (better for light control, I think), because to inside mount might require a custom size.

I have seen drapes hung at a window such as yours. They used a decorative rod with a finial only on the end of the rod away from the wall. The rod was hung next to the wall (with out the finial). If you like shades, that would be fine also but I guess I prefer the softer look of curtains in my bedroom.

I would switch the two dressers so the longer one is under the TV which you should lower some. Dress the two windows alike; completely cover them with lined drapes matched to the wall color and hung ceiling to floor. The windows don't look like they provide you with much light anyway and really need to be hidden. Then stand your floor mirror in the other corner. Move the slipper chair in the corner by the floor lamp. Remove the bench/luggage rack to another room.

They are two different things so they don't need to exactly "match" -- only coordinate -- same material and/or color .... generally the same style. One idea could be to use the standard two-rod -- top and bottom -- idea for the door to add your curtain to the door -- hem at both top and bottom with rod inserted through them -- .and then replicate that on the windows ... using the same length fabric on the door as you need for the windows, visually creating three windows the same length. With the bottom of the fabric secured at the bottom hem, you'd avoid fabric heat/ac issues. Lowe's has some decent light blocking and light filtering pleated shades. You take the measurement in and they cut to size. A few screws later and you'd have them installed. Then I'd do erinsean's suggestion for some nice drapes.

A shade and no curtain would look fine! I second the idea of going to Lowe’s or Home Depot and having them cut to size. They have pretty good blackout blinds for not a lot of money. If light is a concern to you, then definitely go for outside mount. The light will definitely sneak in through the edges if you do inside mount.

It really depends on the look that you like. I do not use blinds/shades as window treatments. They are functional not decorative. If you need privacy and blackout you could get an inexpensive shade and cover it with a pretty curtain.
