I’m an amateur rose breeder & interestingly together with the hybrid tea ”Olde Romeo” my most fragrant roses are 2 of my unnamed rose crosses: Smooth Velvet x Nigrette and Othello x Knockout.

The fragrance of the cross between Smooth Velvet & Nigrett(Foto above)is outstanding even in the triple digit summer temperature of inland Northern California. The bush is short about 3 feet and almost thornless.

This cross of Othello & Knockout can rival any English Rose when it comes to fragrance. It’s a tall Shrub with semi glossy dark green leaves.

Olde Romeo

Hands down the most fragrant among the red hybrid teas at least in my garden. The petals can be used as tea drink with the aroma of fresh fully ripened lychee. The flowers are among the darkest red I’v seen.
