About me: I've been obsessed with roses and other flowers since the early 80's, I grew up in a large family and I think my mom was so busy just being a mom, she didn't have time for hobbies, so when I started growing flowers and roses I was a novice and got my hands on every book I could find, to learn as much as possible. My first experience with growing a rose was a disappointment, the blooms just weren't very pretty. I thought I would give it one more try and somehow discovered Jackson and Perkins, probably in a magazine advertisement and sent for their catalog. I can't remember how many roses I ordered that year, but I do remember I had some success, because I was hooked. Through the years I've learned a lot, books help, but hands-on experience is always the best teacher in my opinion. At the present time I have about 85 roses and plan to add to my collection. I used to think hybrid teas were it as far as roses, but my rose tastes have expanded over the years. Even though I still have mostly hybrid teas, I have a few old garden roses and plan to add more. I have several floribundas and want more Austins and Griffith Buck roses too. I think all flowers are lovely, but to me the ROSE is the ultimate flower!
