What color pendant lights should I get with dark counter?
Comments (0)We will have Antique Brown granite tops with cream painted cabinets, SS appliances & Brazilian Cherry floors. The granite has chocolate brown, black and pieces of opalescent throughout. What color pendant lights would you suggest for over the breakfast bar? I was thinking of cobalt blue only because my husband LOVES this color or an amber color. Any suggestinos or pics would be surely appreciated. Thank you....See MoreWhich Granite Counter Color Should I Do?
Comments (39)Hi, I wish I had come across this website, and your particular question, while in the midst of redoing our kitchen at this moment...I too am agonizing over what granite color! My cabinets are your exact color and similar layout with an "elegant" feel, and black island. Just this weekend, we decided to do "golden supreme" for perimeter cabinets, and a walnut wood top for island. I too wanted a light look, and fell in love with "la dolce vita" but out of our budget, and my husband wanted a more dramatic feel, but we didn't want solid black look. The "golden" has both gold and black swirls, with some quartz in it. You may consider that color. Good luck!...See Moregranite counter-top seams ... are we being too picky?
Comments (44)These are my pics of my countertops placed Friday June 22, 2018. I cried looking at these seams. It looks so cheap. Fabricator explains that's the way it comes. I explained that I shouldn't be able to see the seams so clearly. It looks so unprofessional. They ended up taking them back to their warehouse. In hopes they say if it is quality control will try and fix it just to make it look better. Otherwise I will have to pay an additional fee for them to come out again to install. I just don't know what to do and if still looks the same. This is the first time I've replaced my counters in 24 years. I don't and can't live with it. looking at this for another 24 years. It looks so cheap and it really was not it's a lot of money to me. I hope fingers crossed that they will fix this problem. They never told me that there would be such seams. I thought the edges were done by a machine and it would be all one piece. I have read up on this and now understand there are seams. But now I do know that they should not look like this. If they are good fabricator you shouldn't be able to see them so clearly. I will find out next week what happens....See MoreMarble CounterTops vs Granite
Comments (4)People are likely to tell you to do a search--which is a good idea. There have been several threads on this in here and I definitely found them helpful. In the meantime, I can tell you that I have carrara on my perimeter countertops. My GC and KD both said "NO WAY" in the beginning, but I forged ahead! Mine have been in for about six weeks and I love them. The biggest cons you'll hear are staining and etching. I haven't had any staining issues at all. My husband left a lid from a margarita mix container on one counter and it did etch (acidic). But I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who can find it. What you'll generally hear on here is that if you're willing to live with some "patina" meaning some etching and possibly staining (though there are poultice recipes that people seem to have great success with), then marble is a great choice. If you want a completely blemish-free surface, it may not be for you. Definitely do a search on here, though--and good luck!...See Morezdr81
