my black friday shopping for home
Comments (13)I have been googling "black friday ads" for the last week, just to see if I really want to tackle the crowds. There are tons of websites out there that have the "leaked" brochures. All I want to do is see the brochure so I can make my own decisions as to where to go. Walmart's brochure has finally been leaked and since I only have a few small things I want to get, I was happy to see this may be the only store I need to go to and we have a mini-Walmart here in town. Easy breezy for me, unless some crazed woman knocks me down! I am sad though that when my kiddies were young, my brother his wife and I would meet up and bring coffee, donuts and muffins and sit in the car to get the best place in line at Toys R Us. It was a yearly ritual and people weren't so crazy then so it was a lot of fun. Now my kids are 23,20 and 18 and there is nothing they need or want that would make me brave those crazy crowds at 3 in the morning....See MoreBlack Friday shopping?
Comments (13)I went to KAM in Hyannis and bought dishwasher, but not because it was black Friday but rather because I really need a new one since I'm putting a new kitchen in as I type. Timing just happened to be this way. Bosch has a November rebate - not related to Black Friday - on their stuff and you have to have purchased it by Nov. 30. I had only decided the day before the get a new DW. However, I got home and was looking online at the DW I had bought that morning and saw it was much less expensive online, so I called KAM and they honored the price difference, plus $10. However, I have to pay sales tax, which I wouldn't have had to do buy buying it online. KAM, though, will service it if it needs it since I bought it from them, so I think worth paying the tax. Wheeled the old lousy but working DW out to the end of my driveway with a "free, works, all parts" sign on it, and it was gone with in a half hour. Discovered a part I forgot to stick in the DW this morning, though. I feel bad....See MoreHow Many Did Any Black Friday Shopping?
Comments (38)I went to our local Meijer on Thanksgiving day to take advantage of 3 of the "one day only" items that were financially worth it to me enough to tempt me there -- but hated that they do that (and that I gave in to it), it creates this circle of "demand was there" so people came, but if they offered them on Friday instead the demand would still be there and they wouldn't have to require so many to staff the store on Thursday. In fact, on Friday it turned out that they offered one of the "one day only" items again, and a better offer on a similar of the other. I went to Old Navy on Friday to get the $10 jackets. The line was not as long as I've seen in the past. Also stopped at Walmart late in the day to get the very cheap ($2) towels -- I have a special use for them. I have seriously considered getting one of the smart TVs but still not convinced that it is essential to my plan for cutting the cable, so I am waiting....See MoreWhat Black Friday deals are you getting?
Comments (41)I did go out on Friday to 2 stores, to get half price shoes, underwear, towels, socks and gloves for the teen shelter. While I was in the store, unfortunately, a hit and run driver bashed into my new (I've had it 2 weeks) car -- the one that is a replacement for the one that the tree fell on. Luckily there was a good Samaritan witness who left a description/partial plate # and contact info so I am hoping that the sheriff will track the culprit down. The local Kohl's had checkout lines winding around the entire store, even at 1pm! Went out again on Saturday to Menard's to take advantage of a few sale items there also, although I found that most of the things that I wanted were sold out. I was able to get a great deal on coffee pods for work. I also took advantage of a couple of "doorbuster" deals online to get a new coffeepot, a stick blender, and a packable down jacket for my planned travels next year. I took one with me last March and it was great to have, but it is a men's size in an ugly color -- so it was practical, but I wanted one that isn't oversize and looks nicer. Today I might order something unusual -- a deal offering food allergen testing for $55. I have been wondering about my reactions to breads and a few other things. I've long noticed that eating much tomato will make my arthritis flare up....See MoreTina Marie
