I know it needs a box to install a light, but what shape?

Round or square? My electrician wants to leave it like it is and wants me to drywall over it. Then he will attach a box to the drywall. What if my light is too heavy?

I don't have a light yet, but he said the light would not be too heavy. I am not sure I believe that.

Of the lights I have seen, they all have a round faceplate or a rectangular faceplate and the wires are always in the center. If I buy a box at Lowe's, am I looking for a round box or square box that nails into the 2x4 stud?

Can I nail in the box before the drywall is installed? In order for the light to be centered, the wire has to be run through the 2x4 and go behind or in front of the metal pipe. I will add a protective metal plate on the stud. How can he drill a hole in the 2x4 and run the wire to the other side of the stud if the drywall is up? I am not a plumber so I guess I just don't understand.
