amerec vs mr steam vs thermasol steam shower
Comments (98)I don't understand the last post to this thread? Thermasol offers a 5-year replacement warranty on all their controllers. Why would you pay to replace it? Maybe you had it more than 5 years? If so, then it's too bad it failed but how long do you expect it to last? I doubt you could expect a car to last reliably with no problems longer than 5 years, so why expect that of your steam shower. I have a PRO-395 that I installed 14 months ago. It just failed tonight. Not sure if it is the controller board or the heating element, but it stopped producing steam. Called tech support and they are shipping me a new replacement unit tomorrow and paying for the install, all at no cost. I am going to call them tomorrow to talk to them about the fact that it failed so soon. They are supposedly the best and charge a premium for their product. I am curious how they will explain that it failed so soon. Will update this post if they say anything interesting. Update: Spoke to them this morning and they are sending me a new unit, and pay for installation charge. One other thing. Someone in the tread above talked about making their shower with a 10 ft ceiling. Don't do that! That is just dumb, and will affect the experience of a good steam. If you ever want to make your steam shower bigger, do it in the length or width but never in the height. My house has 10 ft. ceilings, but my shower has a 7.5 ft up to an 8 ft. ceiling and that is plenty high enough. The 7.5 ft part is over the bench so the fact that it is lower there makes no difference because you are sitting down....See Moresteam showers go with mr. steam vs thermasol vs steamist vs ?
Comments (11)It's seems super hard to get comparison info. Also debating between Thermasol and Mr Steam. We were leaning toward Thermasol, but just has a plumber over to give us a quote and he had never heard of Thermasol and has done lots of Mr Steams installs. There seems to be 3 key factors that I'm considering. The constant steam of Thermasol seams to be a big draw. Although the automatic auroma of the MS seems lots better then manually doing it. The Serenity Light, Sound, Rainhead looks amazing, but it cost $2k and then you also need a $1,500 digital shower valve. I'm a little worried about all the gee-wiz stuff on the Thermasol that may wear out sooner in the long game....See MoreHelp -- Steam Shower Noise / Too Noisy At Steam Head
Comments (8)Yes, 1/2" will increase noise I believe (that's what I have). I did *reduce* my noise by replacing what I had with a ThermaSol NTST-SN "whisper" steam head. However, it is still too loud to listen to music coming from my speaker in the steam shower. SO, I now use bluetooth waterproof headphones, which work well....See MoreSteam shower ceiling tile help
Comments (9)(rewriting as I didn’t see my post) Hi everyone thanks for sharing your very helpful thoughts. They used orange schluter kerdi board (pic below) everywhere inside the shower. They then added mud on the ceiling that covered it up (not sure why - level?) One thing that bothers me is that they added these 2 inch screws to hold up the tile and I thought that was weird. Those screws must be penetrating the vapor barrier, no? I can’t change the shower head. Is this orange board okay? What to do at this point? I think they need to replace the kerdi board that’s penetrated. But then again, how to tile it while maintaining a 2” slope per foot? Should they tile from the shower head away to the surrounding margins of the shower? Thanks!...See MoreUser
