steam shower ceiling slope
Comments (0)Can anyone give me advise about how to slope the ceiling in a steam shower? We have 9ft. ceilings and we are planning on a seamless glass shower that will go all the way to the ceiling with a transom over the door. My concern is if we slope the ceiling to the back wall (the only one we can...the left side has the fixtures and the right side is glass and will have the bench), how do we make it look good? Does anyone have any photos they can share? Thanks for your help!!!...See MoreSteam shower in bathroom w/VERY hi vaulted ceiling-glass ceiling?
Comments (3)I got the glass through a local shop. My situation was different, as only one wall, the "front" door wall, was glass. The other three walls were kerdi and tile. The sloped glass ceiling was captured in the walls on three sides and clear silicon was used to seal the remaining side to the front wall of glass. I'm not sure what type of specific seal was used on the door. It might have been clear vinyl. If you do a search or ask at the glass shops, it might also help if you refer to it as a "raked" (sloped) front wall of glass. Actually, lemme see if I can get a quick google hit... Found one at Wilson Glass. Not exactly what you're looking for though. Using something like that with a sealed transom overhead would work and be the lest expensive. Having the front wall as a single piece of glass with the door cutout of it would be $$$$$....See MoreYOUR steam shower ceiling experience
Comments (0)I know the tile association (whatever it's called) says that steam shower ceilings should be sloped 2" per foot. There. I said it. Let's not go over that ad nauseum. I've read numerous people online who said they have flat ceilings in their steam shower and were never dripped on. However, that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of other people who have been "rained" on and regret having a flat ceiling in their steam shower. But I have yet to find a first hand report of this phenomenon by anyone online. In fact, here is an unscientific experiment suggesting that there is no need whatsoever to slope a residential steam shower ceiling. I've read several professionals say that sloping is only necessary in commercial steam showers that are always on. So I'm hoping to hear from people who have/have used steam showers with a flat ceiling. Did you have any condensation dripping on you? Enough to make you wish you had sloped the ceiling? Again, I don't want to hear about the theory of why you want to slope a ceiling. What I want to hear is from people with first hand experience. If you don't, please refrain :-)...See MoreHelp -- Steam Shower Noise / Too Noisy At Steam Head
Comments (8)Yes, 1/2" will increase noise I believe (that's what I have). I did *reduce* my noise by replacing what I had with a ThermaSol NTST-SN "whisper" steam head. However, it is still too loud to listen to music coming from my speaker in the steam shower. SO, I now use bluetooth waterproof headphones, which work well....See Moredoofy323
