Steam Shower - worth the investment?
Comments (17)A steam shower can be put in for not much money at all i dont know where these figures are coming from????? Suppose a decent steam generator would cost you at the most $500. Then the piping to it should be no more work than doing a towel radiator, simply do the feed in, outlet to the wall outlet and the overflow to the waste or even the outlet itself (if you dont mind the scolding water coming out after, not for kids, then lose it all in the wall. Am guessing that you'd be building a shower regardless anyway so just make it a full enclosed one and away you go. You could even get an all-in-one shower ready made from anywhere link the link below for example. and have the rest of the bathroom to play with unless you want a multi person one but i personally dont like walking into a group of people when i go to take a poo Here is a link that might be useful: example steam units...See MoreThermasol vs. Mr. Steam for Steam Generator - feedback?
Comments (3)Thermasol, after you get past the initial price shock has a LIFETIME warranty. They are the leading American Steam Generator by most Plumbers. Their product is built heavy duty and they offer units for both Residential an Commercial operations. For Plumbers its the unit with the least amount of callbacks when installed properly. Have heard good comments about Mr. Steam for residential applications as well. However their warranty is not lifetime. JMHO....See Moresteam showers - have one?
Comments (15)We put one into our basement bathroom remodel. Because we did a total gut remodel of the entire house we were down to bare wall studs. We opted for a tiled steam/shower, custom done to the room's specifications, with a sealed glass door. We used a steam generator unit that was installed in the garage (you can install it up to 20 feet away from the shower itself). The inside of the shower has a built in bench, thermostat, shower, and light. Our tile guy went to great lengths to make sure the ceiling was sloped the proper degree, and the tile was placed in it in a very balanced pattern. Now we're just waiting for the electrician to return and finish connecting the light and the power! We redid 2 other bathrooms upstairs, so this was more a guest bath on the way to the hot tub off the basement laundry room. It wasn't that expensive to do, and we had to finish the bathroom anyways. Adding a steam generator and making the necessary changes to the tiled shower wasn't cost-prohibitive....See MoreMr. Steam vs Steamist?
Comments (1)I bought the Mr Steam based on reviews found here and other places (such as epionions). I really like the unit and the fact that there are a lot of finishes (nickel, etc.) to choose from for the steam head and controls. I never had a Steamist unit so I can't directly compare. Go to http://www.steamsaunabath.com and you can look at both brands....See Moreelliotzaks
