Help me choose a paint colour for little boys bedroom

Hello, i plan on redecorating my little boys (3.5 years) bedroom.

The room is small, north facing and is currently painted in Farrow and ball white tie which looks lovely and warm.

he wants dinosaurs (see bedding) and blue or green walls.

Here is his room with everything taken out of. I will change the mustard blind and the carpet is quite pale in real life.

any suggestions of paints appreciated. I tried Tranquil Dawn by Dulux but it looked too dull

I love a BM blue paint chip called Clear Skies. I'd love to try it in a bathroom or nursery someday. According to colorcharts.org, a similar SW blue would be Bubble 6770. My sister-in-law picked more of a medium blue for my nephew's room, and it really seems too dark for a child's room. If you want cheeful, I'd keep it light. Checking out the blues on the favorite paint colors blog might be helpful, too. SW Waterscape and SW Tidewater look pretty and cheerful. Here is a link that might be useful: Favorite Blues

Thanks so much for responding. Does anyone have a suggestion for an ashen green? I don't know what that is. hoyamom - I never thought of blue for the ceiling. That's sounds interesting. I had thought about a gray/blue for the walls before we brought in the green chair. I really like the combination of blue and tan. lindybarts - any suggestion from you is like a pearl of wisdom. I LOVE your house! I think I may have to do a larger sample of Svelte Sage o the walls. I don't think it is too gray. Actually, in our DR it is a very nice green. However, we had a green bedroom in our old home and I fell out of love with it pretty quickly. It was more of a blue green, though (with a differnt comforter, etc.) I'm just afraid of painting a color that I'm not in love with. I don't want to be unhappy with my choice in two months. I already have painter's remorse in other areas of my home. And since we are hiring painters for this, I feel a little more pressure to pick the "right" color. Any thoughts on Svelte Sage for the walls with a beige on the ceiling so the crown would show up more?

whenicit, Thanks, but I need LOTS of help! The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... Try Benjamin Moore cement gray, or if you need to go even lighter do American White darkened by 30%. We love the way it is a cool silver tone that seems to brighten the room, but the subtle purple undertones keep it from being cold. Silver Grey's also look excellent with yellow so these colors will both work well. Cement gray is the living room, American White (darkened) is the guest bedroom.

He needs a new twin bed for sure and as for wall color keep it neutral since his favorite color will change many times over the next few years. That dresser in front of the wall heater needs to be moved , it is always best to have nothing in front of a window that kids can climb on and maybe just put that in the closet. I think the wall color you have works well Get some fun removeable decals all about dinosaurs BTW all 3.5 yr boys love dinosaurs and I love the bedding. A littl bean bag in a gree for a spot for him to sit and could you show the whole room , IMO he needs books

Thanks Patricia Colwell, my mum said the same about keeping the paint colour as it does work. Just felt I ‘should’ change it. I do like the suggestion of the celadon green but not sure there’s any stockists near me in the uk.

There are some dinosaur decals to match the bedding in the shop so yes perhaps that’s an option. The room looks a bit sad but I took down all the decorations and books just for the photos. Many thanks
