Help! Wall cabinets on either side of window...
Comments (4)I have no uppers at sink, but we have them either side of a window. Think how different this would look if I'd insisted on grabbing those inches at the window and put them into the cabs. (Curtains are temporary; on tension rod. Will have romans and honeycombs if plan holds. Still thinking as to whether there will be an oak bridge between cabs up there at top.)...See MoreSwitches on Both Sides of Wall
Comments (11)"Ok, but what hides the rest of the ring? This is an "old work" project and I would have to cut the wallboard to accommodate the 4" box. From what I've seen (see link), the ring covers the whole 4" box with a cutout in the center for a single switch. A single wide switch plate would only cover the center of the ring. What am I missing? " Do you want the switches back to back or not? You have to cut a large enough hole for the box, fasten it in place, install the plaster ring, and then repair the drywall. If you use a RotoZip to cut the hole you can make it large enough on one side to work both sides of the wall. You can then cut an exact plaster ring size hole in the other wall leaving minimal repair work. The piece you cut out from the first side can then be trimmed to act as the patch in that wall. A coule of 1x wood strips at each eside of the hole for support (screw through the wall about 1/2 inch friom the edgw of the hole to hold the wood in place) then screw the patch tpo the wood strips. You should have a very neat 1/8 inch gap all the way around the patch. Some EasySand mixed as thick as peanut butter (smooth) will fill the gaps with no tape or feathering. I use EasySand20 (sets in about 20 minutes, but 40 is more like it) so I can complete the patch in a few hours. Let it dry overnight and it is ready to prime and paint....See Morehow to decorate walls on either side of french doors?
Comments (16)I'm afraid these curtains don't work. I would keep the focus on the rug and other items and find a heavier material in a solid cream material, or a very subtle cream and blue pattern, and your room will take on a whole different look. The white chair is in an awkward place, you don't have room for it there. Can you place it at the other end of the couch, perpendicular to the sofa? Or, is it possible to move the sofa further away from the chair, and then find a much smaller (apartment-sized) chair to put in the place of the very big one? To be honest, your rug also appears to be too small for your space. It should extend forward another two feet to give more coverage and extend under the gray chair. This rug is pretty, and I hope there is another place where you might use it. You really need mood lighting with a table lamp or two, which would make your scheme look much more complete, and the lighting would be more flattering than a harsh overhead light. I hope you have some paintings on other walls and perhaps books here and there to make this room look complete. Right now it's not a cozy and welcoming space for friends or family....See MoreArt on Either side of side of fire place
