Was the line long at your poling place Kathy? I've been hearing from friends that did early voting that the lines were very short and easy to get through. I'll be doing my early in-person voting as soon as possible. Apparently many states got wise and opened up the early voting option like my old state had.

We haven't gotten our ballots yet, mailings for our state started last Thursday. So for now we are just keeping our eye on the mailbox.

just waiting for our ballots. we've had all-mail voting here in washington state for about 9 years now, and I can attest that it is reliable. I once had a friend get a callback because her signature seemed a little weird (all was good, she confirmed). we have secure droboxes where the contents get picked up every evening, and you can track your ballot online. trust me, everyone I know here absolutely loves it.

Because of the very likely risk of voter fraud, you should probably burn the shredded paper ballots and then flush the ashes down the toilet to be safe.

Raye, we vote absentee every year. I usually just drop them in the mail, but this time I took them to our small post office and she stamped them and put in the township postal box.

Now when we get the “calls” we just say we are done!

Ballots could be dropped from the sky, but it's the job of an election board to accept only one valid ballot per registered voter.

I'd urge everyone to vote where ballots leave a paper trail, should the election be contested. DH and I will put our completed ballots (yet to be received by mail) into a drop box at our city hall.

sephia_wa I assume the calls kathyg is referring to is the typical campaign spam. also there are the helpers who try to make sure everyone knows how to register, knows how to safely vote, etc.

I appreciate what the registration helpers are doing, but cannot stand the campaign calls. I can make up my own mind, thanks.

Our ballots won't even be mailed until the first part of October. How did those of you who already voted get them so soon?

We have ours filled out and sealed, instead of dropping them in the mail, we will take to the courthouse, where we can drop them off.

I used to take my kids with me to vote in person every year. They needed to see that it is a persons duty to vote!

Yes, campaign spam, plus asking since we already voted did we want to donate to the campaign.

We got our ballots today with a note as to where the drop off box is. We also can check online to see if our ballot has been received.

Today I saw our community's ballot drop box sitting in front of city hall, out on the curb on a main highway. It's the size of a mailbox, but sits flat (no legs). I wonder if it is nailed down. I would not put my ballot there. I'll either mail or drop off at the voting location. I'll go there to drop off but not to vote where a person has to sign, stand in a booth, etc.

With all the rhetoric about mail in votes being fraudulent, and delayed results being fraudulent, I think all who can should either hand deliver their ballot to the board of elections as early as possible, or vote in person (either early preferably, or on Nov. 3 if that is the only option). I personally do not fear voting in person with a good mask, a disinfectant wipe, and hand sanitizer.

I typically don't want to vote early just in case one candidate does shoot someone on 5th Avenue (rhetorically speaking), the smoking gun is found in the last few weeks and my vote is already locked in for him. This year I am making an exception to my rule.

We have voted by mail for 15 yrs in two States. This year we decided to mask up and vote in person. With all the funny business going on with mail-in's I'm want to make sure our votes are counted. I don't trust what Trump is insinuating about mail-in ballots.

socks I wonder about that too! in WA state, the ballot dropboxes are huge, permanently installed and bolted down. the contents get picked up every evening just in case people try to sabotage the box late at night. but we've had our system in place for many years, so they had plenty of time to roll out the infrastructure.

I received another application today, (that is the second one), but I'm voting in person.
