Hi - do you have the number for Dove Gray?

Hi sorry - my first post!- trim and wainscoting is Dove White. I’d love a medium to dark blue but am concerned I may really need a lighter color or even a gray. Thank you for helping!

The difficulty with pairing colours to photographs is that they will render differently depending upon the device on which they are viewed.

It’s possible to ‘measure‘ the colours of your tile, to know exactly to which Hue Family those colours belong. No guessing required. Also a great start for finding colours from harmonising Hue Families. The device is a Color Muse and links wirelessly to a phone. It takes a few seconds.

Here’s the key data for Dove White from the land of color .com. It’s quite a ‘colourful white’ selection for trim.

There are lots of examples of dark and successful bathrooms.

It depends how bold you are feeling!

Marylee does the color analysis mean dove white is a yellow white? Have you tried any the apps offered by color muse?

These colours belong to the complementary Hue Family to White Dove.

But I would want to double check in which Hue Family your tile belongs too.

You could attempt it by eye and just compare the paint chips to the tile. Does it appear closely related or pull more blue or green say? But measuring the colours is a whole lot easier.

As Marylee pointed out, it is difficult to match color from a computer screen. Using the data Marylee provided of BM White Dove, and because the tile looks like a Purple-Blue on my screen, I looked at colors in the Purple-Blue Hue Family (which would relate as a complimentary color scheme to BM White Dove).

Report back if it looks too purple with the tile. Do you want something lighter/darker, greyer, etc.

With the white vanity, white top, white wainscoting, if I were to paint, I would choose dark blue as in the floor tile.

But, I wouldn’t paint. Nothing like wallpaper with wainscoting.

Hi Sharon. I carry a Color Muse in my purse, so it’s always at hand should I want to measure the surface colour of anything: tile, wood, textile, paint colour, flowers, ceramics etc etc.

It tells ,,

In which family it belongs.(Hue)

How light or dark a colour appears (Value/Lightness)

How colourful or grey. (Chroma)

How much light it reflects (LRV) Light Reflectance Value.

You can then plot it on this Color Strategist Wheel.

Even just knowing its Hue Family, helps you to know if your colour is

Blue, Blue-Green, Purple-Blue. Not always easy to judge especially, when you are working with whites, blacks, greys, near neutrals.
