white paint for open concept that goes with Pure White

I have SW Pure White on cabinets, ceiling and trim and lots of walnut and teak. looking for a wall color that will compliment it in my open concept home. lots of east, south and west light. wanting something light, calming and on the grayer side of white. whew... suggestions?

Pure White is a really cold white. It will look bluish in those conditions, and especially next to woods with yellow in them. You can counteract that by using a bluish gray. Like SW Icicle. That will make it look whiter in comparison. But it is going to look darn blue against your woods. Id pick a warmer white for the cabinet. Like Alabaster.

BM Chamois is a warmer white with some yellow undertones, but the current trim color looks fine to be next to the cabinets so if it's close and you're fine with it I say stick with it. Really unless you use the same color as the cabinets it won't be an exact match. Can you paint a sample of the Chamois and hold it against the cabinets to see the contrast? IMO since you have the bright white cabinets and grey soapstone I'd play it safe and go for a cooler white. BM chantilly lace or BM super white would work.

I'm glad your friend is not going totally 1950's Retro with sparkly Formica countertops with metal rims, with ribbed vinyl inserts! Of course, in the 50's all appliances would have been white, but I do love that big red refrigerator. I inherited my parents 1943 GE refrigerator when we bought our first house in 1969 and spray painted it Avacado Green! I would use Glacier White Corian for the countertop, and do consider an integrated Corian sink. I have the Number 881 huge single sink and I adore it - best kitchen sink I've ever had and I've now had it for nearly 16 years.

Am I correct that the Alabaster will look a little brighter in satin sheen? It could. There is no hard and fast rule about how sheen affects color. Depends on the color and different people perceive it differently. So, you really need to get a sample from the painter of his version of Alabaster in whatever product he's using and go from there. I would opt for the Alabaster option first because it's the easier option, more consistent option and you like how it renders in your space. ETA: make sure you like how his Alabaster goes with your Dover White trim too.

I just did an all white kitchen, I used DE Swiss coffee for trim and cabinets, creamy beige quartzite counter and after weeks of searching found a cracked subway tile that matched my cabinetry. First make sure the quartz is the same white as your cabinetry, ( you don't want one brighter (dirty) that the other....then find a subway tile that matches your cabinets (hard to do, lots of whites) . I choose the wall color based on my samples of the counter top and cabinetry. good luck

has anyone used SW 9546 Lunar Lite or SW 9545 Ghosted? I can't find any information about them online...?

oh that's great. would love to see it. I played it safe and went with the very very light gray Intense White (bm) and I'm pleased.
