I suggest you line up with an axis that runs roughly through the center of the house and take a contiguous, slightly overlapping set of photos that pan across the property. I drew a sketch to help explain what I mean. Since I'm rough guessing and inaccurately drawing the layout, take it with a grain of salt and adjust for real life conditions. Since the patio is elevated, the camera needs to be high up. I suggest taking the pictures while standing on a step ladder or from the bed of a pickup truck. Try to take sharp, well lit photos....See MoreOkinawa garden design, could use help any input appreciated
Comments (5)Parker, Great Idea on the Tiawan Cherry as a focal point and I like the Garcinia Subelliptica "wonder if that has any connotation to those Garcinia Slim commercials as Okinawa has the Longevity thing going". Chinese Bayberry looks awesome and like it would attact a lot of native wildlife, I can't believe I have never heard of it. I already have 14 citrus trees on our property, a kumquat, limequat, Satsuma "brown select and owari, Pomello, 3 Blood Oranges "Moro, and Vangelliax2", Louisiana Sweet, Washington Navel, Meyer Lemon, Two Home grown grafted everything, a couple of extra small grapefruit and I do have Persian, Australian Finger, and Key Limes in Pots. Maybe I could get some larger Okinawan Designed Concrete Pots for the Limes and Bonsai. I currently pull them in cold weather. I have about 40 different Camellias around the property right now, most in the front and I love them as they put on a show. I just picked up three more Black Magic Camellias. Dicksonia antarctica is an excellent suggestion and then some, thanks for the recommendation on cold hardiness. I was thinking of doing a small black pond liner near the water with a small section of mud bugs, iris, lotus, and edible water chestnut. The Tree ferns would be perfect there. Thank you for the amazing advice, between your two posts I am definitely steering in the right direction as traditional asian gardens let alone a Okinawan theme garden are a little outside my wheelhouse. I found some unique types of rattail raddish and really love the stone raised beds above. Glad I brought in my 3 foot Bannana this year and hope to get it out March for some serious Growth but am tempted to leave it in the pot with the winter we are having. Its expected to get down to 20 tonight, I have a ton of stuff covered. Thank you both for your invaluable insignt and help, hopefully this post will give others some ideas about garden design with oriental gardens as you wouldn't just design an (American garden) in Nevada with Cherries, Dogwoods, Norfolk Island Pine, Maple Trees :)...See Morewall color and rug suggestion please...any and all advice appreciated
Comments (65)What are the measurements of the Anthropolgy mirror you are returning? I think it was a good size and would be inclined to get either the first or second choice RH mirror depending on your preference. They will both look great with your chandelier. The third is not worth whatever the additional expense and I don’t think the lines of the fourth mirror are hefty enough. When you refer to the green room pic, do you want to look for a paint color that shade or are you just referring to the pic in general? Also, do you love the fabric on your chairs or are you just going with what is there? I had the seats in my dining room chairs reupholstered a few years back and it was not expensive. I bought the fabric myself and gave it to my upholsterer, which also saved. He came to my house, unscrewed the seats and took them with him so he didn’t have to load up the chairs. I think your fabric is absolutely fine, nothing wrong at all. It just seems like you are looking for a bit of bold in the space and that could be any easy place to get it. Remember if you are placing chairs on either side of the buffet, they are very visible and the seats can add a lot of look, or not to the room. No right or wrong....See MoreMatt P
