Comments (19)You're welcome - glad to be of help. That is the great thing about this place - lots of ideas that inspire us and give us new perspectives. I have learned so much here. I love the idea of the greens, but as you have discussed, I think all the greenery around the front area makes a green kind of 'safe'. In the winter (assuming you have winter) when some of that greenery is gone, it might be fine. I do like the middle color blue on the bottom strip best, I think, for overall effect. As for what the color looks like from the street and then up close, only you can decide what matters most to you. Do keep in mind that the effect that most people will have is the look from the street. If you do decide to go with the blue, since you are losing the storm door, I would consider changing out the front door hardware to a brushed nickel or pewter. I would also look for a larger light fixture, also in the pewter/brushed nickel finish. One thing I might suggest is getting the little sample jars of the colors you like, and painting some full size pieces of posterboard with each color. Then tape them on the door, one at a time, and leave them for a whole day and night, to see the effect. Be sure to lock the storm door open (or just remove it, if it is coming off anyway) so you can get the full effect of the color. The paint sample jars and posterboard won't cost you that much, and might be much cheaper in the long run than having to repaint the door if you really hate it. Someday, if it is in the budget, you might consider adding two or three pot lights in the ceiling of the porch. They will brighten the whole area, and make it even more welcoming day or night. Be sure to let us know what you decide, and post pix of the finished project. It is always great to see 'the end of the story'....See MorePlease HELP with front door color- Pictures
Comments (6)Very lovely home! Check out Benjamin Moore's Cottage Red -- its a premixed exterior color -- it would look wonderful in a satin or even high-gloss finish! :) Do add a coach lamp to the left! And then add some seasonal red and white flowers around the front garden -- especially the red ones to echo the new color of the door. Perhaps a glossy black urn with a tall thin bush to the left of the door. And a half-moon door mat? And a silver/pewter door knocker would be marvellous too! P.S. Perhaps a Japanese maple between the two small windows on the left-hand side of the house? Jan Jan...See Moreplease help with front door color
Comments (11)Hko hko- very nice! I looked up the birdseye maple, really nice, thank you. To all, i really do love this house and have made some good choices on color combos and some mistakes on color combos. I will also look at the bungalow colors you suggested. We just got a new roof and i had picked the black, which at first seemed too dark but now growing on me, ok, didn’t have a choice, done and done. That’s when i realized everything els needed a fresh application. Thanks again to all for your expert opinions, always a joy!!!!! Just added a huge square white antique bird cage to the front porch. More flowers to come......See MoreHelp with paint colour for exterior front door please!
Comments (3)I think a navy blue would work really well - SW Naval, BM Hale Navy or - my vote - SW Sea Serpent: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7615-sea-serpent#%2F7615%2F%3Fs=coordinatingColors&p=PS0...See Moredonnab63
