I did read the thread and saw that you can't see the TV on the wall everyone suggested. I would face the sofa to the fireplace and put the chairs on either side of the FP facing each other. Put matching end tables and lamps on the FP side of the chairs. You need a larger rug that the sofa and chair legs can sit on to pull the seating into a conversation group. There is a little bit of a sense of clutter in one corner. I might remove the etagere from the room, thereby removing the clutter it contributes with the stacked books. Put the small table on that wall with a small lamp and some framed photos. There's possibly too many large lamps. I think I count three plus sconces and overhead lighting, but the placement is better in your new photos. I would also add a few larger pieces of art on the wall, table and/or mantel and bring some touches of red in. That will make the walls relate to the conversation group around the FP, which is the only place you have red.

I really like your colors so far- ( I am very partial to blues and tans). I am not clear what you are looking for. I think I understand you want a neutral to go with the other colors you do have. From looking at the fleur de sol you seem to be looking for a very light neutral. Someone on another thread mentioned Benjamin Moore Natural Cream which I am seriously considering in my house for the hallway . There was a site which would show paint color equivalents between brands, but it is no longer.

I understand wanting to make what you have work, especially since you'll be adjusting financially for a time with your new house. I would not recommend purchasing furniture on credit. Instead, save for the pieces you want. Reserve debt increases for items that will protect or increase the value of your home if absolutely necessary. It's better to plan and save for those items as well. But, I digress. . . I think there are some things you can do to bridge the warm and cool tones in your room. Bringing some of the cooler tones onto the the sofa and bringing some warmer tones onto the wall are some things to consider. The mock-up below attempts to illustrate the idea I would recommend removing the console to the left of the window. It appears to crowding the entry. Maybe think about a couple of prints that have both warm and cool tones for above the long sofa wall. And perhaps a warm wooden shelf on the short wall. A distressed mirror above it along with a couple of well chosen photos or other items could make a nice vignette. Rather than the current side table, consider a solid, drum or pedestal. Suspending a pendent light in the right position above it would balance out the short sofa wall. I hope this has been somewhat helpful. Congratulations on your new house!

Sounds like you and hubby aren’t on the same page. Buying a table, without ability to return is red flag to me. He bought that rug too without your involvement. The rug is wrong size and style. No photo of the table. But better sit down and talk about this and reach some compromises otherwise, these situations can fester and get ugly over time.
