PICS! Floors refinished, now I need help decorating
Comments (38)I called Hookset on TUesday and they said they were sold out so it doesn't seem like the online locater is up to date with what's actually in stores. I called the Target in Kansas near my brother and they have it, but it's not on clearance...actually it's more expensive then online! As far as furniture placment, We went through all this already and figured the current set-up is the best. There is a heating unit under the window and we'll lose all storage space by flipping the couch to the other wall. And we discussed flat screen on the wall, but again I need storage, so that wouldn't help the sitution. Our house is very small and this is the only room the kids can play in. The bedrooms are upstairs and even if they were big enough (they aren't) I don't wnat them up there getting into trouble while I'm downstairs cooking dinner. (they're 2 and 3). I work all day so it's nice to be able to interact with them in the living room and be able to run back into the kitchen every few minutes to check on dinner....See MoreDecorating and paint choice help
Comments (10)Just to be clear, do you plan on painting the eating area or just the soffit and dining room entryway? If you're painting the eating area, I would want a color that works with the dominant color in your living room. I wouldn't want to go from one saturated color to another unrelated saturated color. Have you looked at Ancient Marble on the same strip as Grassland? I remember being interested in that color to repaint my LR/DR in a light olive tone. It's a good color with wood. You might want to think about adding some color, texture, and/or pattern to your window treatment. I wouldn't even bother with a rug....See MoreReceived my Console and now need help Decorating it
Comments (64)Thanks everyone for the compliments and great ideas! I do have a painting I love that I bought in Montreal from a local artist that I have been meaning to put up but have yet to find a space for. It is not quite big enough. Maybe if I can find a large mat and frame it could work, that or place two, one on top of the other. I bought a vintage map of New Orleans while we were there that I also love. I will try and see if they might go together. I kept thinking I wanted a mirror bc I love the way the lamp light bounces off the mirror and brightens up the space. I also worry that the lamp light might just reflect the top glass of the art. I will play around with it and see what I might prefer. In regards to all of the beautiful mirror ideas, I would likely have to spend a larger sum of money that I might want to and my husband would probably not like that idea. lol I will keep you all posted and thank you ALL for taking the time to post ideas and photos!...See MoreHelp me fix my sister's hidious decorating choices
Comments (23)I've had clients who went out in the middle of a BIG project and bought furniture that was beyond hideous - it was a monstrosity. I could have cried - all the work I put into this MBR and then they bought this enormous bed with built in headboard/bookcases/lights - heck there might have even been a refrigerator in it - it was bigger than some efficiency apartments. They could not wait for me to see this purchase, of which they were SO proud. I responded the same way I do when a really ugly baby is presented to me and said, "Well, that's quite a bed!" (I always say "What a baby!"). After the installation of what we were doing was complete, I bowed out - WAY too busy to help them with more decorating - always WAY too busy for the next 2 years. They finally quit calling and I was greatly relieved....See Moredecormyhomepls
