I think it looks quite nice and will certainly do until after Xmas is over - you do not need to go into panic mode on this.

What you DO need to do is paint the two switches and the outlet plate the same color as your walls! Take them off put on a couple of coats of paint and put them back up. It will make an enormous difference! If you have a handy husband who can change a switch or outlet, buy dark brown ones and replace them, too. They will be far less noticeable with your lovely dark walls.

Wait on the mirror. The right one will appear someday. Don't buy it online - discover shops in your town where they sell nice mirrors. We have a local florist shop that has expanded into mirrors and home accessories. They always have the BEST mirrors at a reasonable price and I can bring it home and try it to see if it works!

Live plant? Sure - why not a cyclamen or poinsettia for the holidays. Just move the lamp to the opposite side.

I'm not a freak about lamp cords, but if you are, get some tape and tape it to the leg of your table to make it less visible.

Given everyone's great suggestions I will wait on doing anything. I will definitely paint or switch out the white light switches etc. I will go shopping at some point and pick out some items to try.

I'm afraid everyone is going to hate me, and especially you aktillery, but my feeling is that against the dark paint your nice console is almost invisible. I have no idea whether it should be a very light varnished wood, distressed white or altogether something else, but right now for me it has no impact. Looking again, I wonder if it would look great if it were the color of the heavy stained wood beam above.

I agree with everyone on waiting until the perfect mirror presents itsef..and of course if it something that can be found close and seen and touch.. the better

(because I for example got stuck with a nice mirror when lighting plans had to change because to return it would be 100 plus dollars. So it's in the garage. Nobody wants to pay even half of its price on Craigslist and I'm not willing to let it go for less. And it was considered a relatively cheap mirror.)

Ever, we only have a single story house. The living and entry way are the darker color. The rest of my house is accessible beige (hallways and kitchen).

Pretty table! I think the area looks just about perfect. While in the pictures the mirror looks delightful, I agree with waiting for the right mirror (for you to find it, or it to find you!), painting/switching out the outlet/switchplate covers, and dealing with the cord.

I'd just add a bit of greenery, depending on the holiday. Either some evergreen branches in a vase, supermarket flowers in a bowl, or an amaryllis or paperwhites or poinsettia; and I'm weird, because I prefer my amaryllises and poinsettias in white...

No suggestions...I just think you did an incredible job on your whole house. You are very talented!

I think the table is perfect. I really like the clean lines of the legs. You might consider a glass lamp, similar in style as the glass pendants (love!!) over your island. Then put a narrow tray for mail or keys in the middle. And I agree a seasonal plant on the other end to balance the lamp. Your home is just lovely.

There are several nice mosaic mirrors on etsy with some where you can pick your size and shape. This was a quick search as it seemed there were a billion to weed through.

Good point Terri. I just found this mirror on CL and it is tall and just perfectly wide. I found it interesting. I would likely change the color to something more interesting. Maybe just have some fun with it as it is not very expensive.

It's a very nice addition Aktillery. I think waiting on the mirror until you find the right one is spot on advice. I would not paint or wallpaper that entry space. I really like it as is.

Okay...this is what I would do. Your wall is small but due to the scale of the area I think it would be stunning to do more of a top to bottom mirror. These first two example are not necessarily the mirror I would use, I'm just giving an inspiration of how it would sort of look. They are nice though. And yes, glass/mirror light switch plates are available.

I kind of like the antiqued example below (tub picture) except I would go with a lighter hand on the antiquing. However, you could do more of a plain full wall (not tile type) of a very very lightly antiqued mirror from top to bottom.

There are endless options. You could do a modern antiqued tile or tinted mirror or a beveled tile or...the list goes on.

Or something like this but covering most of that wall.

I think the mirror seems a little formal to be squeeshed between the switches on the wall. I'd put up something like a piece of artwork, and add more texture on the table - like some books instead of the glass item on the left. Maybe a small plant on top of the books.

Thanks everyone for the compliments and great ideas! I do have a painting I love that I bought in Montreal from a local artist that I have been meaning to put up but have yet to find a space for. It is not quite big enough. Maybe if I can find a large mat and frame it could work, that or place two, one on top of the other. I bought a vintage map of New Orleans while we were there that I also love. I will try and see if they might go together.

I kept thinking I wanted a mirror bc I love the way the lamp light bounces off the mirror and brightens up the space. I also worry that the lamp light might just reflect the top glass of the art. I will play around with it and see what I might prefer.

In regards to all of the beautiful mirror ideas, I would likely have to spend a larger sum of money that I might want to and my husband would probably not like that idea. lol

If not for going around a light switch you could do the wall in antiqued 12 x 12 tiled mirrors fairly reasonable with a diy. In my search there was a HUGE range in pricing on this. I saw everything between $9.00 and $35 per tile. Crazy!
