Let's go bridal this week with something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and then a pic of a bride or wedding.

Wow has this been a fun week of photos!

Today is something bridal.

This couple lucked out with the most spectacular sunset on their wedding day. Earlier in the day, they also had a rainbow! And now they have a lovely daughter as well.

Wedding dress that I made for my SIL. The design of the dress was her idea, but I added the silk organza jacket and overskirt. Photo taken by my sister's husband, and I had to scan it.

I have not noticed seasonal birds here - I guess I do not live in a migration path. I've not seen blue birds here (except for blue jays), and I've only seen one robin, which was in Anza Borrego State Park one February. We have Allen's and Anna's hummingbirds all year, as well as mockingbirds and a variety of finches. When I lived in Venice (close to the marina), I saw kingfishers, pelicans, seagulls, etc. but I never photographed them. I see more birds when I go to the desert or the beaches.

Annie - it was a well-kept secret for nearly 40 years. The gears were worn and wonky and if you accidentally bumped the case in a certain way it often stopped the movement. We never told the kids about the compartment to make sure they didn't play around with the door. When we moved our clock repair fellow moved all the antique clocks and then installed and serviced them at the new house. Now that I think about it I'm curious if we ever told them.....

Shoes I’m considering as a Christmas gift for dad and possibly husband but in a different color. These are a lace ”look” but are slip ons. Should be good for those with arthritic fingers and those that want a cool comfortable in between shoe.

A couple more photos I ran across. Sherman with one of the elephants my uncle sent back to the States in the 60s. The homemade wood block to hold woodworking tools. They belonged to a dear friend of my maternal grandfather, who passed to my mom and then me. I made a large breakfront into a cabinet of curiosities in our last home.

I scanned this a long time ago. My parents wedding in my grandmother's house in 1944, just a month after my father got his degree from University of Illinois. Notice lots of glads in the picture; my grandfather was a commercial gladiolus grower.

I enjoy wedding ceremonies that are very personal.

The woman to the right is the groom’s best friend and had the honor of best woman. The teddy bear was given to the bride a year before for Valentine’s Day. The ring was hidden in the heart.

A year later when DN proposed he asked the bride to get the teddy bear that was in her room for the past year.

I’m one of the bridesmaids standing next to my big sister on the right side of the picture. I do remember not liking my dress, which was bright acid yellow, or indeed my hairdo!

My Dads standing next to his brother, who is the groom.

My Nan n Grandad are furthest to the left. I was always a bit wary of my Nan on my Dads side of the family, and I think Grandad may have been too, as he always seemed to be in his shed when we visited:)

Best I can do today. The bride, my daughter, and her Dad walking "up the aisle" a woodland path, to meet her groom. It was a magnificent fall day at the YMCA campgrounds where they met. This was 37 years ago

A before and after: Bertha and Ernst's wedding day, 10 Dec 1899, and 40-ish years later. Despite Bertha's somber expression, she was my mom's favorite grandmother and she remembers her as being great fun!

What's that you say - that this picture isn't recent?

The car is so heavily covered that it's hard to tell its age.

What's one of the good things about a mask that never gets mentioned?

No one can see the wrinkles!
