Hi, We have this same Kohler's vanity and sink in our powder room and went for the AquaBrass "Hey Joe" faucet which I do NOT recommend. The lever got too stiff very fast and it is very hard to control the flow and the temperature of the water. If I could re-do it I'd go for one of Grohe's faucets. For the lighting fixture we chose a European glass one in frosted white and dark brown (to match the vanity) and we are really happy with it (see the link below). It is an above-mirror fixture though, not a ceiling one. The store we got it from had ceiling fixtures too, very nice ones that would match nicely. I have a vessel sink bathroom with orb faucet, antique chrome tp holder, chrome trim on the toilet, and then an old toilet tank with verdigris and brass. So maybe I am not the person to ask! I think if you are going at all rustic, and the rest of the palette is muted, mixing is fine. You need to be more careful in a modern space or a very formal space or with "near misses", ie things that look like you tried to match but failed.

IF everything matched, wouldn't the world be a boring place? I don't think I could stand to look at or live in a house where everything matched. I would probably move out. You need to define what your taste is and of course, there are some elements that need to come from the same colors, same genres, etc., to create harmony and flow, but for everything to match is like stepford wives. A beach house? I have been in some fairly new beach houses where the fixtures in each bathroom (one of which had 5-1/2 bathrooms) were different metals, stones. I went in one very boring one (seemed like they must have had a sell on their granite and paint) where all 4 baths were identical in color and fixtures, etc. Define your style, look at catalogs, look at magazines, look at the pictures on our gallery here, talk with those building bathrooms on the bathroom forum, check out ratemyspace at HGTV.com, look through Veranda, Traditional Home, Southern Accents, etc. There are too many millions of ideas to get bogged down in but the main thing, if it is beach, KISS theory applies (Keep it simple, Sweetie). Beach homes are cluttered with sand, guests and towels. Keep the decor light and cool.

If you have an ORB light fixture, then I would do the cabinet hardware along with the towel bars and the sink faucet in brushed nickel. Yes, you want to mix your metals, but I like to keep "like" items in the same metal color so that it doesn't just turn into a mess, you want it to look like things were planned out and not just randomly selected. So keep all of the "water" related items around the sink and shower in the same color and then have your "lighting" elements in something different.
