I'm imagining a slight Asian vibe, and would suggest Oil Rubbed Bronze (or similar) finishes in simple lines.

Since you will only have the one light fixture, it will need to be functional. But since that's not a put-on-your-makeup bath, the functional requirements are less stringent. I'd still get something great-looking.

We have this same Kohler's vanity and sink in our powder room and went for the AquaBrass "Hey Joe" faucet which I do NOT recommend. The lever got too stiff very fast and it is very hard to control the flow and the temperature of the water. If I could re-do it I'd go for one of Grohe's faucets.

For the lighting fixture we chose a European glass one in frosted white and dark brown (to match the vanity) and we are really happy with it (see the link below). It is an above-mirror fixture though, not a ceiling one. The store we got it from had ceiling fixtures too, very nice ones that would match nicely. Frosted white round "plates" with a square piece of hand-made glass in the middle, in a color of your choice.

The guy doing my bathroom said it will be easy to put in wiring for a sconce over the mirror so I think I'll add that light.

Neznamov, would you recommend any particular Grohe faucet?

I love your light fixture! I'd love to find some of the ceiling lights you mentioned - can you give me the name of the store?

And what does your mirror look like? Can you show a picture?

Those elements could take a traditional OR a more modern faucet. Which do you lean towards? personally I would do more moredn... How about Kohler's Purist or Stillness faucets? I absolutely LOVE the stillness but they don't come in a single-hole version... so we're doing Purist. We're using an Archer tub.

Should I bother to have the contractor install a vanity fixture over the mirror, or is the ceiling light okay? Sweeby's point about not doing makeup in there is a good one...I am thinking I should avoid the extra expense. thoughts?
