Your installer (your husband) may become quite difficult to deal with and discussing the placement on the Eve of installation has not given him a chance to weigh out the options. A 36" wide fixture centered on your wall only leaves 21" left and right. This fixture could look silly pushed to the right and your installer may have pre installed a junction box dead center and moving this would involve drywall, and painting on the eve of completion. Many happy renovations go this route - and can turn ugly fast. One of my rules is to hold off on the install until the light is on sight. If the light has not arrived by rough in time we leave a wire buried in the wall and fish it out later. This wire is not energized of course. If when it's all said and done and the installer won't help try this approach. Call a few electricians and get some estimates on moving the light. Ask your husband to sketch out his layout for "Bill" when he finds out Bill is coming in to look at his work and layout chances are he will cave in and move it for you! Now God forbid your installer is right - don't tell him! Us men don't need any more design power on our side. I try and ask my male clients to just sign the cheques - it's easier this way.... but from time to time we are faced with the "The Man's Man Practical Solution For Everything Design and Layout Related Approach to Home and Bathroom Renovations". Sometimes I'm impressed. Our newest client could be a designer! But sadly most times it's about making life easier and costing less. Hi, We have this same Kohler's vanity and sink in our powder room and went for the AquaBrass "Hey Joe" faucet which I do NOT recommend. The lever got too stiff very fast and it is very hard to control the flow and the temperature of the water. If I could re-do it I'd go for one of Grohe's faucets. For the lighting fixture we chose a European glass one in frosted white and dark brown (to match the vanity) and we are really happy with it (see the link below). It is an above-mirror fixture though, not a ceiling one. The store we got it from had ceiling fixtures too, very nice ones that would match nicely. Patty, if I do get the mirror, do you have any thoughts on light fixtures? I am considering the one in the link below. I think it goes with the vanity and the rest of the room, but probably doesn't go with the mirror. Would the Martha Stewart fixture in my original post look all right with it? @downbytheriver it's a smaller room and is over to the left by approx 2 feet. A five pattern is pretty much what we were already thinking except that we planned on doing six lights instead of there being one light in the center of the five pattern, there would be two lights.
