Bathrooms Design Dilemma Home Decorating

faucet finish for powder room

I am installing a new vanity and would like help selecting the faucet finish. I am trying to decide between chrome, oil rubbed bronze for brushed nickel. I installed a oil rubbed bronze light fixture and thinking of changing cabinet hardware to same finish. What would be a good option for faucet? Do I keep hardware? What faucet finish would you select?

I am trying to avoid the too gray/silver look of powder room (towel ring and bar would be replaced too).

If you have an ORB light fixture, then I would do the cabinet hardware along with the towel bars and the sink faucet in brushed nickel. Yes, you want to mix your metals, but I like to keep "like" items in the same metal color so that it doesn't just turn into a mess, you want it to look like things were planned out and not just randomly selected. So keep all of the "water" related items around the sink and shower in the same color and then have your "lighting" elements in something different.

What cpaul described is exactly what I opted for in a prior bathroom remodel - light fixture was a black finish (repeated in bath towel hooks and hand towel ring), while the faucet, vanity knobs and shower fixtures were chrome. A mix adds some interest, so long as each finish used is repeated elsewhere.

Hobokenkitchen- I ordered the tile floor from Meditteranean Tile on Rt. 46 in Fairfield, NJ. It was a custom order because the tile did not come in Calacatta marble, so they cut it especially for me. That herringbone style did come standard in other marbles. The herringbone cost around $1300 + the border tile and baseboard tile. Since the light fixtures are 'polished', I would opt for the same in faucets. Imo, chrome is too shiny.

hello! i am having a design dilemma with thinking about my powder room. this is a room i wanted to have a little fun in, but don't want to look like i just threw super random things together. we are going to do a stainless steel vanity base and i am now searching for a faucet...am i going too far out there to think brass could look good? or should i stick to something like polished chrome/polished nickel? faucet will be wideset with cross handles (ceramic center Hot/Cold) . other room details: floor: 2x2 calacatta gold hexagon tile vanity top: colorado yule marble (white with very slight warm gray/brown veining...will be mostly white) walls: possibly reclaimed wood as an accent wall picture of vanity base below

@mrspete, do you think better if I switch to rectangular mirror? Or keep simiplifying even more? This is purely opinion, but I like the fancy mirror ... I'd change the vanity. Why? Because I'd rather "go simple" with the more permanent items. It's easy to change out a mirror later. Chrome and polished nickel are classics I think this topic gets too much attention. Once the room is put together, I don't think anyone really notices the metal -- as long as they match and as long as you're in the "expected-for-faucets" silver family. If you branch out into the trendy brass tones, then I think people notice.
