Do all powder room hardwares' finish have to match with faucet's
Comments (3)I have a vessel sink bathroom with orb faucet, antique chrome tp holder, chrome trim on the toilet, and then an old toilet tank with verdigris and brass. So maybe I am not the person to ask! I think if you are going at all rustic, and the rest of the palette is muted, mixing is fine. You need to be more careful in a modern space or a very formal space or with "near misses", ie things that look like you tried to match but failed....See MoreGoing Bold - Berry Red in the Powder Room??!!
Comments (14)This is BM Burnt Peanut Red in our one and only bathroom. We live in a one bedroom apartment and the bathroom is very tiny with no window. My husband was very skeptical when I said I was going to paint it red, but he really liked it once he saw it done. The plastic wall tile and cheap sink with ridiculous utility faucet (!) came with the place when we bought it. Now that we've made it through a kitchen renovation we're starting to think about dealing with the bath. We definitely want to keep the red though! This red paint was part of the "quick fix" right after we moved in. We were just going to paint the walls and hang up a medicine cabinet for more storage. But when we pulled off the glued on wall mirror, there was a hole in the wall--apparently a recessed medicine cabinet used to be there. That was the only time I've ever been happy to find a hole in my walls! We enlarged the hole just a bit for a new medicine cabinet, put in a new light fixture and painted. I wish I could get a better picture for you--go for the red, you'll love it!...See MorePowder Room Pix- Let's go
Comments (35)Figured I might as well tack on to report my little progress. I did get the black vanity top (it's waiting in the garage) and just ordered the faucet. I really like the look of chrome, but went with polished nickel . Moen Banbury Sorry it's so huge! Which brings me to the hardware and lights. I do think black knobs would look good, but not loving the idea of black light fixture. I keep going back to gold. I loved that ring pull @tartanmeup had posted BUT after looking into it, they are 2 inches ( that's too large) AND they don't expect them until late August. I browsed and found these , and a few similar ones that I am really liking.... and some plainer ones that are similar. I haven't ordered anything more beside the faucet. For lighting-- here's the thing. The vanity is 30-31 inches. I think I am likely not going to replace the mirror at this point. ( I may down the road but havent seen anything I prefer). The mirror is approx 28 wide....... so originally I though I would get a 2 light fixure, but now I am thinking 3 lights. Does that sound right? And, what do you think of these? and my feelings won't be hurt if you tell me I am off track but if you do so please offer some suggestions.I think I prefer the 2 lights to the 3 light version ? Capital Lighting Milan Similar but in 2 lights Drake 2 light and I really like this- but it doesn't come in gold. Maybe the polished nickel and then I could still use gold knobs?Kichler Winslow I am going to go to sleep and hope I wake up to lots of answers (either from you, or from me after a night's sleep).....because I really want to get this ordered. Thanks for humoring me....See MoreDo this couch and chair go together?
Comments (5)The two pieces are almost a match so add another more comfortable looking chair in fabric that picks up Carmel hues. Do people dislike the looks or comfort level. This isn’t my style but unless it isn’t uncomfortable work to highlight it in room. Add cozy looking lap blanket, maybe in faux fur (no cheesy but elegant). Search for a rug that adds other colors to room. No washed out looks and no rough textures. Basically you want to finish the room so it is inviting. Dimmable bulbs on table lamps, an ottoman to rest your feet, artwork with drama. Think James Bond romantic combing masculine with a dash of wooing....See Morejust_janni
