Personally, I really don't care for matchy-matchy anything. Just as I would never match the fabric on my curtains with more than anything else in the room save for a couple throw pillows, I don't feel the need to match the finish on my lights with those on my cabinet hardware, doorknobs, etc. I do like them to be in the same family, though. For example, in my dining room I recently bought a wrought iron and crystal chandelier with a dark brown finish. The hardware on my buffet is a somewhat lighter brown, and my switch plates are of yet another brownish metal finish. Honestly, even if I wanted to match everything, I couldn't, unless maybe if I wanted everything in brass (which I don't care for anyways)-some things just don't come in an exact finish that one has prepicked. Sometimes I might even throw something with a black finish in there just for a twist. I am thinking of purchasing an upstairs hallway light that I really like in a black finish, even though nothing else up there has a black finish-I think it will look fine. I would characterize my decorating style as traditional decorator with a strong eclectic twist, btw. Anna C.

I have been to 3 lighting stores, one twice because they gave me the wrong type of recessed lights. None of the pendants really struck my fancy until I saw the first pendant in my OP, but it doesn't come in a silver type finish and I am not fond of the ceiling fixture that matches. I saw two ceiling lights I kind of liked, the smaller square one that is the last photo in my OP, and this one: Neither one has a matching pendant. This one is discontinued but is still available. When I realized that all of them were Murray Feiss, I looked on the designers web site since the lighting store said they would order any fixture I wanted as long as it was a brand they carried. Another of the lighting stores didn't have what I was originally imagining but offered to make it for me. They haven't gotten back to me with a price yet. My idea was to have a light over the sink similar to what they place over islands, but much smaller in scale. They were going to take to "C" shaped wall fixtures apart for me, in satin nicked or similar brushed finish, separate them by a small bar and add a matching pendant type arm that it would hang from. Anyway, not sure if you can imagine it, but they were as surprised as I was that they couldn't find anything similar available pre made to match the multiple light island lights. A quick search on Houzz will show lots of pictures with mixed finishes. The first two below have ORB light fixtures and chrome/brushed nickel plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. The last picture has chrome plumbing fixtures and ORB light fixtures and cabinet hardware. IMO all these combinations look good. I am typically a "matchy/matchy" person but wanted chrome plumbing fixtures in my house and prefer ORB light fixtures to chrome light fixtures for some reason. So I have spent hours looking at pictures with mixed finishes and reading design blogs/home building forums and have come to the conclusion that there are no "rules" on this and it is really a matter of personal taste.

Here are some ideas in your space to perhaps help you aid you in selecting a style. Not knowing the width between the cabinets nor the ceiling height they are not to scale and I just tossed some up so you can see shapes, etc. based on the discussion I used this metal tone. way to high yes... it's an orb in a finer thin dark bronze metal
